Muschamp wouldn’t be temporary this time though. Where’s he going to go?
Failed at UF. Failed at USCe. Not going to be a hot prospect even if he has a great defense.

3 years sounds about right. I miss blitzing though

Agreed. Bring Champ home!

Weagle25 this isn’t directed at you or anyone I particularly but like I have said I don’t have sources anymore but I used to. Muschamp will never coach at AU again.
And I like Muschamp and his defenses.
Just will never ever happen

No ones saying fire him.
But we have to prepare for scenarios

Like I said Muschamp will never be on the sidelines at AU again as a coach for Auburn. Way to many bridges burned. So like I said trust me on that. NEVER so look for a different DC to want to come in if Mason fails but it won't be him.

As others have said, he’s a great DC but he wouldn’t be here for the long haul. I don’t want him to come for a year and bail for something else. We need continuity. We finally had that in Steele and we all saw how great it was! Well, until he tried to stage a coup... lol
That’s all.
That’s all.

If its just for coaching bring Steele back... But supposedly their were other issues. Like trying to manipulate getting the HC job.

I don’t think his defenses tackle well.
Through 4 games of year 1, that feels more like a prior staff problem. If it continues through November / possible Bowl game? Mason deserves some criticism
I feel overall good that Mason schemes will work if executed by the players. The question is if Mason can get execution, thus far we haven't seen it

Where the hell is he going? You think Champ is a hot commodity for a head job?
No big time school is gonna put him on any candidacy list for a long time. What he did with our 2015 defense and the players he brought in in a single recruiting class was damn near magical.

Hey Gene,
I meant in reference to Manny Diaz. Watching that defense last night try to tackle lowly Virginia was rough.

Still applies to Mason either way

I wouldn't be against this. But I feel like Muschamp and Harsin wouldn't jive well. Could be wrong, though.

The biggest thing Muschamp improved when he came in 2015, in my opinion, was tackling. And, of course, recruiting.
Doubt he'll ever be back, but I could see him and Harsin either being oil and water, or good friends. No in-between.

quote:I wasn't surprised to see Muschamp leave for the USC job. He's a damn good defensive coach, and somebody was going to give him a second chance. What I said at the time was, he was making a mistake by going to USC. He wasted his 2nd chance on a school that far better and more experienced coaches had a hard time winning at. It will be a long time before he's offered another HC job, outside of a Liberty-type school. I'd take him back in a second. Other than his bad blood with our FORMER AD, I haven't heard anything bad about his time on the Plains.
