Seriously? This idiot got high, driving 91mph in a high traffic area, killed two people, orphaned two kids, then continues to smoke dope, speed, and drive reckless. Are you saying he is the best con man to ever walk the Earth, or could it be that Mommy and Daddy are turning a blind eye to all the signs that their little boy is a bad egg?

Hell, his own defense attorney is publicly shaking his damn head!
Sorry, youre are right. Lets go get the parents. I'll go buy the torches, you bring the rope.

You blame the parents but know absolutely nothing about what goes on within their family. Perhaps the mom and dad are trying their best and the kid isnt responding to their teachings. how the frick would you know any different? frick you and your lack of wisdom and inability to reason beyond your own childish reactionary emotions

Furthermore, the age of consent for medical treatment in Alabama is 16. So, if this kid is refusing medication, refusing psychiatric help, and refusing hospitalization, there is nothing the parents, police, or caregivers can do.

Involuntary Commitment in the case of psychiatric help. At 16, you pretty much depend on your parents for everything. No money, no car....no drive. In extreme cases, you have to show them the door before they destroy yours, and your family member's lives.

I’m not going to speak for everything they have or haven’t done as parents but his arse should be parked. Definitely shouldn’t be on the road.

You must have a personal connection to the family. Only logical explanation for your emotional response and defense of this.

He killed two people, continued to drive, speeding tickets, spinning tires, still smoking dope. Why are his parents allowing him to drive?

Except:
1. Do not allow them access to vehicles
2. Physically take control of their license.
3. Ask the court for remand instead of bail.

I would take away his keys for sure; however, the reaction of this board bc he got a speeding ticket is ridiculous.

Cant imagine the mental anguish this kid is going through. He accidentally killed two people and will forever be known for it.

Reckless speeding caused the deaths of two people.

He continues to speed recklessly.

These are not 47mph in a 35mph zone that just changed. These are reckless disregard for basic safety. He also hit a small animal which makes me wonder if that was accidental.

Bottom line: I’ve had two speeding tickets in 39+ years of driving. This kid is reckless.

Driving license will be suspended depending on the number of points on his driving record. Parents should take the keys.

Do police notify the parents when 16 year olds receive speeding tickets?

eta: Im done with this conversation. Im not defending this kid for speeding or breaking the law or for accidentally killing Rod and Paula.

Im defending the overreaction of this board. Life imprisonment. Parents should lose everything. Thats crazy talk.

Can’t take the keys of a car you don’t own. That’s stealing.

Again, no one here knows the specifics. We can all agree the kid needs help.

Do we even know that it was his car he was driving when he got the recent citations?

. . . and assumes his parents were automatically notified.

(despite the 1st officer being unaware of who the kid was)

Overreaction?

Two people are dead.

The kid drives recklessly as a habit.

Taking away his keys to vehicles owned by parents is not overreaction.
Taking away his driving license is not an overeation.

I think he needs inpatient or institutional help at a minimum. He has an established pattern of disregarding basic safety regulations.

The speeding tickets on back to back days are a signal of an almost nihilistic disregard for even personal safety. He may have a mental illness that is undiagnosed, but in any case he should not be operating motor vehicles on our roads.

Or he has a lead foot

Chances are he will be in jail within a year without help
