I’m pretty shocked with Napier as well. There was so much good talk about his involvement with offensive scheming and game planning while at Bama, plus his recruiting ability. I assumed it would take him some time to work out what kind of head coach he would be as far as delegating things, but I never expected his offense to look this inept. He could have been a mediocre head coach, who knows, but the reason he is shitting the bed surprises me.

He’s in year 2 with the #4 class. No, he hasn’t done anything that’s impressive yet and nobody likes to be patient nowadays but I think it’s early to write him and UF off

It's no exact science and even if there were the best programs will always poach. Oklahoma had Riley poached lol

Is there any advice backed by scientific evidence on what works? Doubtful

-- Go get someone the BOT will back probably means more here than anywhere.

For others:
-Someone that excites the fans
-Up and comer beneath us like Troy or South Alabama coach or Napier
- Someone with P5 success
-Coaching tree lineage
-Someone already familiar or an alum

I wanted Kiffin. His record might be average but offense stays pretty good and that remains consistent.

I agree, and I think the transfer portal is mostly overrated. Sure a few key guys can get onto teams that have a specific need. But I think we’re seeing that overhauling a roster isn’t quick by any means.

You need player development within the constructs of your program. Same as it’s always been.

fricking this. Bringing in guys from Texas State and jacksonville State to beat 5* players is not a business decision

If kiffin came to auburn he probably would have forgotten everything about calling plays like other coaches have at auburn. Seems like a curse. Our staff has turned a 6000 yard passer into a puss cake

The transfer portal can be pretty dumb. We needed bodies though.

A lot of our cheapo transfers are already experienced so that means we will have to do it all again.

CHF really didn't much of a choice. Reminder that we are just 5 games into year 1. I mean, of course we want more and people will bitch about anything, but come on guys.

Brian Battie being a senior really pisses me off. He is one of our true gems Hughe's transfer class.

I did too. But I'm not sure how I'd have felt about him basically rebuilding our roster in 1 offseason. Kiffin has a higher floor than Freeze, but a lower ceiling.

I wanted Deion too. He seems to have done a decent job with that roster. But his gimmicky, being disrespected bullshite seems to have worn off

I wanted Deion too, but that hasn’t been a good look for him. And their big TCU win isn’t looking too big right now.

He had to use a sunglasses diss from the Colorado State coach to get his team fired up. Long term, no thanks

And we should be 2-3 with wins over shite teams. If Cal had any sand at all, we are 2-3

AS long as we are counting on these rejects from other programs, we are never going to sustain any amount of winning. We must bring in young talent and keep them on board for 3 years.

Cant be a winning program rebuilding every year. At some point, we have to bite the bullet and stop counting on replacements

I still wish we had gotten Billy over who we got. We ended up with a potato farmer. Billy can recruit and understands the south.

Harsin was a failed hire from the moment we wrote a 19 million dollar check to malzahn.

We didn’t have a plan and just winged it. Then we paid that clown 15 million to leave after doing absolutely nothing except not recruiting for 2 years and running off what talent was left to him.

Embarrassing.
