THIS!
Until we find a real coach, expect more "let's ruin someone's season" instead of celebrating the hanging of a banner.

So 10-2 with possible wins against Oregon(neutral site),A&M on the road,UGA,Bama at home with a freshman QB. Losses to LSU and Florida on the road. That’s a great season. Sorry to break it to some of you. It’s really hard to win against the other big 6 schools in their house. Some of you act like we lost to Arkansas and Mississippi State on the road.

I've been critical of Gus for probably as long, or longer, than anybody but come on guys. If we were to somehow beat UGA and Bama and finish 10-2 with the schedule we played...
If that's not enough for you, good luck.
When the rankings are released tomorrow 4 of the top 6 teams are going to be teams we have played, or will play, and 5 of the top 9 or 10.

Why? We just lost an upperclassman. Very difficult to stack talented QBs.
Especially since the NCAA implemented free agency.

We have a small faction of our fan base that will never be happy with anything the football program does.

Expecting championships with our schedule is absurd.
Loser mentality.
If not for our herp and derp HC, we would, most likely be undefeated right now and be ranked #1.
His decision to stick with a TRUE freshman QB, who has struggled against any team with a pulse, and refused to play a highly recruited guy, who left the team after finally seeing the light that he was never going to see the field, cost us a great season.
But let's keep on doing the same old thing, and continue to base our "successful" seasons on winning a bowl game against Purdue.

Our fanbase thinks we should have 5* QBs 3-4 deep that will patiently wait their turn.

Name the last time Auburn named a true freshman as starting QB.

What does that have to do with the topic? All of you complain about Gus not playing "his" HS QB. You claim he relies on transfers. When he gets a HS QB, you want him to get a transfer. All of you just want to complain. None of you offer any productive conversation. I would guess you complainers didnt graduate from Auburn. You seem more like sidewalk gumps.

Name a coach on the offensive side, that any other top 10 team would trade us for.

Name another team that has played more top 10 teams.

Don't be so dense. This whole thread is about a hypothetical 10-2 top 5 finish. Even Gus' most ardent supporters wouldn't consider last season successful.

Add to it. What if Arky comes calling again after we beat UGA and Bama? Do we do anything else to keep Gus, let him out of his contract so he can go, or just let him make a decision based on the current contract situation?

The HS QB is a TF while on a championship level team.
Not sorry for bitching about only having a TF that plays like a TF.

Gus: Making Auburn Fans Apathetic Again!
Clearly you do not follow Auburn Football closely. Name a QB that Gus recruited, that panned out.
My point is, we should expect more and not be satisfied with 7-5, 8-4 seasons with a 10-2 sprinkled in every 4-5 years. Until we get a real coach, I expect to see threads like this every year about this time, with a bunch of crybabies moaning over the schedule. We are in the SEC West, and our cross division rival is UGA. Until LSU, BAMA, and UGA collapse, expect a tough schedule every year!

Ten win season with our schedule is awesome.

Yep!
My point exactly.
I hope Nix pans out, but there's a reason Saban played Mac Jones when Tua was hurt, and not his little brother.

Arky just got done paying off Bert's contract, now they have to pay off Morris'.
Are we going to forgive Gus' ridiculous buyout? I HOPE SO!!!

I understand the frustration with having a TF QB with the context of how we really could have run the table with moderately better QB play.
We had a good season but, with even serviceable roster management and QB development, this could have been a championship season.
It is a legitimate gripe. If, however, we finish the season 10-2 with home wins against rivals, it was still a good season wherein we finished above our historical average. But that is a very big if.
