I'll never forget 2008 when we were up at halftime in almost every single one of our losses.

I’m still not over the misery that was the 2002 Arkansas game and I’m pretty sure Fred Talley is STILL running

Tubs started our recent cold streaks against both LSU and UGa. 1-5 combined in his final 3 seasons.

Tubs would always win a game he wasn’t supposed to. The football gods would always punish him with an equally awful loss. We really need to stop with revisionist history that he was anything other than an average coach.

Tub could find a diamond in the rough and turn them into a great football player. That being said he couldn’t handle success. I don’t think he did everything he could as a coach to win championships either. He took duck hunting trips during crucial recruiting periods every offseason. The SEC wasn’t what it is now and he was complacent at the same time.

Gus has turned me to the dark side. I was Urban Meyer!!! has anyone watched his analysis on Fox Sports? It has actually made me like him. I know that would be dancing with the devil but...

The problem with Gus is the wins feel like losses, when Tubbs won it felt like a win because we went out there executed well and flat out played our opponent.

Do you even 2008, bro?

AU under Tubs lost to some embarrassingly awful teams. 2003 GA Tech was at least as bad as the UT loss last year, and 2008 Arky was worse. I can name several other losses and near-losses from the Tubs era that were equally dreadful performances.

I have to chalk up this false nostalgia to Tubs Senate bid. The man just wasn't much more than slightly above average.

I agree with this but you're missing my point. What I'm saying is at least when Tubbs won it felt like a win. I'm tired of these Gus wins feeling like losses, Gus has taken the joy out of Auburn football as a fan.

I am still pissed about that GA Tech game.

I thought 2003 was going to be our year.

And then GA Tech took a giant dump in my cheerios.

I’m very grateful for us winning 6 in a row over Bama.
(Aka from my 6th grade year to my first year of college)

But Tuberville was an average coach that beat a below average Bama many of those years.

Which goes back to my other thread where I said I like better beating teams when they’re obnoxious and proud.

Yeah, I mean Gus drives me mad. But he is also the only coach to even beat Saban who is still in the SEC at this point.

During a historic (and sickening) run, we have at least tagged them a few times.

None of that means he needs to keep his job, mind you. But it is important to note Tubbs never dealt with that.

Pretty sure he just ran by my office window. Him and Matt Jones KILLED us that day. Here's a Link to the Arky Highlight Reel

Who was it Daniel Cobb came on here and threatened to fight? Lanier?

Didn’t we beat the number one team in the country the week before? Typical Tuberville ball right there.

We probably should’ve been in the BCS that year.

I'll give Gus credit, the recruiting has been the best I've ever seen at Auburn but it's mind boggling have average we play on offense and special teams.
