I like running it a day or two a week. It’s specifically for recovery days. I can manage my HR easily on the track. It’s way harder to manage my HR on the road with changes in terrain, etc.

It’s the local high school. I pay a ton of taxes. Feel like I can use the facilities within reason. I always try and pick up any trash and do my best to leave it better than I found it.

PS: Same high school runs hill repeats in my neighborhood every season. So I feel like I’m entitled.

That's very true.

Ours needed to be resurfaced very badly. It was built in 2008 and it was almost like bare concrete with a few pebbles on it. I was training our kids on the practice lacrosse field to keep them all from getting stress fractures

Which one is that? My son won the Lutzie 5k (one in Auburn) a couple of years ago.

Gee, I don't know...

And yes that's spelled correctly

I went to one of those running shoe stores that measures your gate and heel strike and specially fits insoles in order to sell you expensive running shoes. $250 later my Cloud On shoes feel great…like I’m hovering above the pavement. Back problems have drastically reduced.

Headed to a place today. Wife and I both are getting fit for shoes..

Put in 17.5 yesterday. Longest I’ve run in a while. Going that far in the low HR zone is pretty easy. A little stiff afterwards, but felt good. Gonna try to get 6 miles in today.

Driving 17.5 is rough enough.

Poor guy is smitten by his lust for the barefoot road run.

samesies

I used to run a lot though especially in ROTC and I know that feeling of accomplishment that sprnx feels. However, running 17.5 is above and beyond what I want to do. I am 33. I’ll settle for looking like I kinda give a shite and not looking like a fat blob.

Nah. Put on the Sauconys for the 17 miles. Probably wear the same shoes for race day. They are light with a low drop (4mm) and low stack height, but just a bit more cushion for either the long distance or hard race pace.

We had somewhere to be today so only got in 3 miles and a stability workout. Start again tomorrow. Mercedes is in 4 weeks

16 is the furthest I ever went. We used to go out to Tuskegee on Sundays for our long runs.

Your regiment is impressive baw....

Did not end up getting fit today. Store was packed. Going on Tuesday....

What is your opinion on the On Cloud shoes? They seem to be very popular all the sudden. I have never been fit for a running shoe. Even when I did my half. I just have always used the Asics.

Being heavier than I have ever been, I am doing more walking with some very light jogging. That will continue until I lose some weight.

You weren’t asking me, but I think On-Clouds are great casual shoes but not sure they are the best for training.

I worked for 9 years in running specialty (Big Peach Running Co.) and the best advice I could give you is to go get fit at a running store…even if it’s just one time.

They should look to see how wide your foot is and what kind of arch you have first. Then they should watch you run and see if you are neutral or overpronating.
I’ve never had success with ASICS or Saucony but I know a ton of people who have. I’ve always run better with Mizuno, Brooks and the Nike Pegasus. But what works for one person may be totally different wrong for another.
