And did it change your thoughts on the this team and this season going forward?

I'm thrilled at the fight we showed and obviously the end was amazing but I have a lot of concerns going forward, and it's the same old issues.

OL is still very average at best, and it's not like they are young and we can expect them to improve over the course of the season.

DL still can not get any pressure on the QB.

WRs did not play very well.

We still haven't developed a 2nd RB.

Red zone play calling still an issue.

We have generally had good special teams but FG kicking is still a question mark and the kick coverage was terrible last night.

I think A&M and certainly Florida are flawed enough we may could go in there and get wins but I just don't see us having enough for @LSU, Bama, or UGA.

OL wasn’t young last year and they improved as the season wore on

Here’s what I took away from last night.. we beat a good team and it’s too early to make any conclusion about what we will or will not be

First game of the year against a good opponent on the road with an 18yr old true freshman starting. It was exactly what I expected.

Kick coverage was bad.
Red zone offense still isn’t good.
I’d love to have a RB platoon.
Defense was great.
Bo will be a great one if he stays healthy.

I knew it would come down to the last play since we are Auburn. Glad we came out on the good side of it. Nix has freshman moments, but we also saw why he is special.

I'll make an observation.

It was game 1.

With a 19 year old QB at Cowboys Stadium (at&t whatever) and a really good Oregon.

Judge the whole body of work by everybody, score was 21-6 ended 27-21. I'm pretty darn happy.

We played a really good team in my opinion. They were solid on both sides of the ball and gave us hell for the entire game.

I think the 4th quarter was different than all the other 3. If we can play that way all game than I think we can win any game this year.

Bo, despite his stats, took a big step last night and I expect him to consistently get better, but still have freshman mistakes on occasion.

Carlson is not money like his brother. Our ST in general give me some concern.

The defense worried me early, but adjusted beautifully.

Whitlows vision and or decision making is flawed at times, but he showed toughness, and speed.

Williams is a must for receiving but has to get better at blocking and staying engaged more when he is not the prime target.

I could point out some specific players that impressed me last night, but I won't.

Overall I am excited by the win, and the overall mentality of the team. They were determined and kept grinding without sign of quit.

I look forward to seeing if we can just get better.

I honestly didn’t think we’d win against a veteran QB while playing a true Fr. I just wanted to see someone what Bo was made of. I knew he was going to struggle and make mistakes but I didn’t want to see him quit.

My expectations were set at 0, so a win is awesome.

I thought the pressure was good. They went to a much quicker passing game in the second half.

Blocking was generally poor, which is why we may not have seen the usual number of WR screens. But outside of that I thought WR play was solid. Seth was Seth. Sal, Hastings, and Stove made key catches. Not sure what you were expecting.

Agree with everything else. This team has the talent to get to the CFP, but the OL will keep us from getting there without a great deal of improvement.

I was nervous before and, truthfully, didn’t feel confident we’d win. The beginning of the game reinforced my slight feeling that growing pains would be overwhelming against a top draft pick QB with talent all around him - offense and defense. I thought Bo Nix would show flashes of talent. I thought we’d stick with Oregon but that Herbert would go down swinging and we’d have to make one more play than Oregon which would be a lot to ask of a true freshman QB.

I was wrong. We got our asses kicked for the first quarter and Bo couldn’t seem to get a rhythm; blame it on play calling, blame it on being a true freshman... whatever.

But then the defense started pinning their ears back and playing great man-coverage. The DL started getting leverage and pressuring Herbert and the LB wrecking crew started flying to the football. And then Boobee Whitlow started started getting yards after contact and carrying defenders for extra yards. Offense starts clicking. Bo starts nailing some simple reads due to great adjustments in play calling. Defense stuffs a 4th down attempt and gives Bo a chance to shine. And then he shined.

Whatever happens from here is beyond me, but, considering the back story, the adversity, the poise, and the W.... that was one of the coolest things I’ve witnessed as an Auburn fan.

QB: He exceeded my expectations. The moment wasn't too big for him. His mobility is needed with our OL. We can win with Bo.

OL: I was disappointed, but just like last season if they stay healthy I suspect we can find a way to win a lot of games with them. If they stay healthy.

RB: Boobee is growing...didn't see enough of anyone else to be excited.

WR: Never been worried and I still am not.

DL: They can stuff the run, but we really need Cat or TD to step up the speed rush. Our only pressure comes from blitz schemes just like last season.

LB: I was pleasantly surprised. They made a bunch of mistakes especially early in the game, but they are very athletic and played much better than I expected overall

DB: Tutt is impressive. They will be solid, but they aren't elite. The were exactly what I expected them to be.

ST: It was a disappointment.

ST was bad. Maybe that’s something Oregon focuses on... anyone know?

To me, the game last night left me with the same feeling after the UW game last season, but I now have the experience of last season to go off of.

First, we don't know how good Oregon actually is going to be. They play in an easy conference, so they may do well in the context of their competition, but it also may mean this win isn't as impressive as we'd like.

Although it was good to see the team not quit, there were some issues that need to be fixed, or we may be looking at another 7-8 win season.

Going forward, first and goal at the 3 may be Gatewood time or Boobie in wildcat.

Nix is going to be really good after he gets some experience.

Team has the heart of a champion.

Need to clean up the presnap penalties ASAP. We can’t afford to get behind the sticks on mental errors.
