Does anybody remember when Chizik hired a private security team just to help enforce curfew. Ahh good times.

And the senior class of 2010? Tuberville’s guys.

Do you expect them to put a banner up with the OC’s name? The fact remains, Chizik was HC when we won a NC even if we won it in spite of him.

He did what had only been done once over 50 years earlier. A banner to honor him is a small gesture.

I haven’t seen anyone giving Chizik any more credit than he deserves, which is very little. He’s an awful HC who stumbled into a NC. I don’t want him anywhere near the program again in a leadership capacity. With all that said, God I love seeing a banner with National Champs on it even if it’s got his goofy smile and dental frock.

We aren’t very far off from agreement then.

Chizik good dude or DC =/= good HC

I'm fine with the banner. He broke the fanbase in 12, but he was there for 10 which was a fun ride. I do wish it would have worked out for the Chizik.

My only gripe with the Chiz banner is that they didn't go with a picture of him in the leather jacket.

That was prime Chiz.

This is the best comment of the thread. The picture of Chizik’s growling face before his daughter’s prom was worth a hundred bucks too. As a dad of two young girls I can already relate lol.

He oversaw a program with a massive news hysteria to a NC despite having effectively no NFL talent other than Cam/Fairley. Not like his assistants were that impressive either

Say what you want but he kept the ship together when it easily could have sunk. He deserves credit

This discussion as far as I’m concerned is past the banner. He didn’t deserve it, but whatever. It doesn’t hurt my feelings that it’s there. Discussion now is all of a sudden Chizik is getting more and more credit for that 2010 season. I have to think if Gus was doing well right now, Gus and Cam would still be getting most of the credit

The Chiz' deserves it.

It doesn't matter if Gus had to talk him into it IMO. If he had said no, then we wouldn't have won the NC.
So Chizik saying yes, gives him credibility for agreeing to bring Cam in.

I can remember Bill Cowher not wanting to draft Ben Roethlesberger and he was overruled by Rooney. We won 2 SBs bc of that move.

So sometimes the head guy makes those decisions which ultimately gives the team the prize.

No Legend.

He would be in the Honorable Mention section with an asterisk by his name stating he won a NC in 2010.
