Yes. He won that championship. And now we all know that he was not "meddling" in 2011, Gus is just a fricking idiot. Hence Chizik won a championship with an idiot at OC. Makes Cam Newton look even more amazing.

Chiz is a great dude. He may have let the team collapse in 2012 but I can't imagine anyone else could have handled all the Cam and 2010 stuff any better. Give the guy his due regardless if it was Cam and Gus that brought the title home we got on the field finally instead of being left out like '83, '93' '04.

Cam comes out looking beautiful in all of this but I thought Chizik was mediocre.

Good for Gene and AU. Shug won a ring and the wheels came off for him too. It happens. Im glad they gave Gene the props. The way he navigated the Cam thing with the press and kept that team focused was very impressive. Hes a good ambassador to the university too.

Got booed when he arrived in Auburn (who did we want btw?)
Had a great season
Then led our team to one of our worst seasons in modern day football
And gets honored after his career with a stadium banner

I just found an ESPN article from '08. Other major candidates were Todd Graham, Brady Hoke, Gary Patterson (who was also a prime candidate for us 4 years later).
The article says Jacobs interviewed Graham, Hoke, Patterson, Gill, Derek Dooley, Rodney Garner, Will Muschamp, and Patrick Nix.
