Hurts was given a chance. Gatewood has thrown 7 passes all season, and played 1 down in a game where the guy ahead of him went 15 outta 35, and wasn't even accurate enough to throw an interception. He was getting called out by the guys calling the game!
In my life, I have never seen a coach so enamored with a player that wasn't getting it done.

Hurts was a starter for several years and won a national championship. It’s different. It’s OK to acknowledge that and argue that Gatewood should’ve had more opportunity. But you do you, boo.
Anyways, I never blame kids for transferring. The days of having good backups are over. Better start going all in on top QBs every year because they’re gone after 2 seasons if they aren’t starting.

I hope he finishes the season, but I think if you have half a brain you knew there was a high likelihood of him transferring as soon as he wasn't named the starter.

Clown Shoes Malzahn is ruining a QB and running off another.
Probably part of his master plan, as he scours the media for another JUCO QB transfer.

Meh I don’t think he transfers until after the season at minimum if Nix was balling out. Unfortunately Nix has been awful.

I would say any person who calls a 19 year old kid that has busted his arse and been as good a teammate you can be, as well as wait his turn for what limited bullshite reps he is going to get unless the guy in front of him messes up to get in the game....just to be yanked back to the sideline and send in a Gimped up RB that had knee surgery 2 weeks prior to run the same play you were promised to have...anybody that hates on that kid for contemplating whether he should sacrifice anymore of his time and effort for that man is a pussy. The worst kind of pussy.
I am sure this isn't easy on Joey...and he hasnt even left yet and you are calling him names. It takes a special kind of pussy to do that.

Quitting a team mid season is a betrayal of your brethren that bled with you on the field. that suffered through workouts and two a days. frick quitters and the pearl clutching bleeding heart pussies that defend them . If it were any other player other than Joey "i wish he were starting" Gatewood, you would be railing against whoever that player was for even considering it.
Quitters are pussies. I dont think joey is a pussy. If he quits, he is one.
If that offends you....frick your feelings

What if Kaleb Kim delivers soul crushing farts under center and Gatewood doesn’t want to take reps with him now that Brahms is starting
I don’t want to say that I heard this directly from an offensive analyst but
Not a coincidence that Gatewood leaves when Brahms is promoted. Everyone has their final straw
I don’t want to say that I heard this directly from an offensive analyst but

First off, I don't think Joey should be starting. I have been in Bo's camp since day 1. I do, however, understand why Joey may be upset and he has every right to be. His future is worth more than your cheap arse opinion and Joey and his family at the end of the day need to do what's best for him. I am sure he has had conversations with teammates and I am sure a good many have told him they will support him either way. If you ever been in a locker room you might understand that. It is also a betrayal to Put in all the work to be lied to. I have supported Gus' decisions but when he jerked Gatewood back to the sideline in a situation that had clearly been promised for Joey, just to put in our recovering RB....that that is a betrayal of the coaching staff to this young man.
Second, you don't get up early enough in the morning to "offend me". Just because I disagree doesn't mean I am offended. Even if I think you're being a POS I am not offended. You have the right to your opinion...as well as I have the right to mine. I am not some soy boy twig who can't handle opposition.....
You think Joey is a pussy for contemplating what's best for his future...I think you are acting like a classless POS for calling a kid a pussy for contemplating what's best for his future.....see....simple...agree to disagree....no offense taken on my end. In the end I hope Bo gets his act together and learns to complete a pass, and I hope Joey stays and gets his opportunities as well. If not, I will continue to support Auburn with all I have and I will support Joey wherever he may end up. I think it would be a mistake to leave now, but I wouldn't blame him.

Seriously whats up with all the talk.
If you are getting fked and refuse to take it anymore you are a pussy????? Your value system is quite flawed.
Kid never got a fair shake after sticking with us for all this time. I hope he leaves and lights it up somewhere else, Justin Fields says come on in the water is fine.

Taulia, the third string QB at Bama just attempted 6 passes last game. Malik Willis got 14 his whole career here.
I have always raged about this.
Typically, Gus only lets the backup QB come in and run the read-option in garbage time. He doesn’t try to develop the passing game at all. He never has. He never will.
Jang and I have argued this point several times. So he doesnt start, least let him throw a few passes. Justin Fields says hello.

We can argue Bo vs Joey and each have a defensible position. However, not allowing the backups full control of the offense during the year is an inexcusable mistake IMO and is impossible to defend. I’ll never understand it.

Gatewood was mulling Tuesday night whether to leave the program, and while a final decision has not been made, one source inside the program tells Auburn Undercover they expect him to depart the team.
quote:
I'm told members of Auburn's leadership council, which includes defensive tackle Derrick Brown, were asked to try to convince Gatewood to stay on the Plains. It's not clear if that meeting with the council and Gatewood occurred, however. Gatewood has not yet made a final decision, but that could come Wednesday.

If I was Gatewood and Gus would rather play Whitlow at less than 100% in the wildcat, I’d be pretty pissed.

Hope somebody gives him Jalen Hurts phone number. Gatewood has a role to play at Auburn still I feel sure.

Whats his buyout after this season? last year it was 26 mil. its obviously less after this year. Having said that, what Gus beat Georgia and all this conversation will disappear like a fart in the wind.
We lost to the No.1 and No.6 teams in the country and still could finish 10-2.
