That’s exactly what he said in his presser

I hope Durkin stays, but i don't think its gonna be as big as deal as we are making it out to be. There's enough young talent on the defense that it will take a serious mass exodus to truly cripple that side. Plus there is the portal...
I really do hope DJ stays, but the HC should absolutely be able to make that call (if DJ is actually open to staying and continue to be one of the top paid DCs in the country).

You won't find a bigger Durkin fan than me. I have made that known.
That being said..........Golesh can't make Durkin stay. IF Golesh wants to go a different path, then go a different path. I hope we give Golesh everything he needs.......and then get out of his way. Just have some trust he will get us back to where we should be.

Is this the worst recruiting ranking class we’ve had so far in years? Hope it gets turned around.

Has Jordan Carter been on our radar?

It isn’t surprising. There will always be attrition from a recruiting class and a roster (especially in this day) and a staff when a coach leaves and a new one comes in- particularly for one coming in that doesn’t seem to mince words.
What does it mean- only time will tell.
What I do see here n some people’s reactions are the similarities in the hard nosed approach that Harsin had when he first came in, that is probably giving people PTSD that Golesh is similar. Soft guys will probably not hang around.
He is pretty candid in the May 2024 interview that is on On3 about his philosophy. He doesn’t pander to the weak minded.
Like many are saying- that didn’t work well with Harsin because he didn’t put in the effort. Golesh seems to be a guy who will——but it doesn’t mean we as fans can’t be eyeing without some skepticism.

Definitely making me a bit nervous that Arkansas gets a “mediocre” coach and snags four good recruits in 36 hours. And we’re only losing them.
Time will tell but my confidence is shot with Auburn football.

Considering how quick those happened, I’d almost assume they were just silent commits already that they are announcing to build some buzz after things fell apart for them. Hard to believe a guy from Memphis just had a couple 4* SEC commits ready to flip and jump onboard with him and were only not doing it because he was at Memphis.
Not to say at this point we don’t have plenty of to be nervous about with how poor recruiting has been this season. However I’m not going to freak out over things today. No use.

And considering Silverfield was Arky's backup plan fir losing out on Golesh it's even less likely.

This is why the college football calendar is terrible, most coaching hires are going to be right after the regular season ends because coaches are still coaching. They can't recruit high school for another school well if they 1 don't know if they'll be there, and 2 can't tell the recruit they'll be at the new school at season's end. Then you have the portal open during playoff weeks

Freeze really left us behind the 8 ball this year. Golesh is getting rid of players he doesn't want.

The offense is what I am interested in the most but Golesh has to do his part in recruiting too.
Golesh was at USF and had to build relationships with three stars. Getting three stars now is just part of the early adjustment period.

If tweet fails to load, click here. He reposted the Golesh announcement too. Not a bad sign.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Just saw this post from Nathan King. I guess I missed that the new rule had been revised. I was still under the impression that the transfer portal was about to open up for our players in the next few days, but it won't.

A few comments, just from the podcasts and articles Ive read:
Yes the portal does not open til Jan 2nd, but players can announce they are looking, and Im sure conversations are being had. Hopefully we can retain and also reach out to some of the teams who are in flux as well. USF QB may come, and Jeffrey Lee said keep a look out for their freshman receiver who is the second leading receiver on the team as a true freshman, Jeremiah Koger, who is from.....St. Francis Academy and said Blake Woodby is a very good friend.
Golesh can recruit, for goodness sake he was the recruiting coordinator at Tenn with less NIL and he did pretty good. Definitely knows QB talent.
Broughton kid the TE. Pink said he is looking for a true Hback for the offense. We keep recruiting "blocking" and "catching" TEs.....who can do neither, wasting time shuffling players on and off the field and telegraphing what we are going to run.
During the interview process he was asked about roster retention.....he pulled out a spreadsheet with who he would keep, who would go, and Im assuming who would need a haircut if they wanted to remain on the team. Lets face it, we have some very high dollar commits who havent done shat in two years. If they are getting big bucks, gone are the days to "develop".
Womack is a great player no doubt. But as another poster said we already have Newboy and Eric Winters getting paid big bucks and doing very well. And we have a highly ranked safety committed for 27, and some good rotational players. Save that money and go get some OL in the portal.
Sounds like recruiting is gonna be fun again!

So basically we are going to have time to fire Freeze after the season and allow the new coaches to sink their teeth into the current roster before they are allowed to enter the portal
