I’m confident that Gus has truly handed over the keys to Morris. Expecting a different offense this year, especially with involving the RB/TEs in the passing game.

I hope so. If we are really going to throw to the RB then it makes sense that Shivers would be the #1 back.

Seeing a hot route to the RB against a blizt in our offense would be amazing.

I’m worried about the OL as well, but it looked to be all juniors listed as starters. That can’t be all bad can it?

I guess but the fact they couldn't beat out last seasons crew for jobs has me concerned. I know they are young men and can grow, but I'll believe we will have a decent OL the next time we have one.

UF’s OL was pretty bad last year, they even gave up 11 sacks to Miami in their first game. If CM really does have control hopefully he can call stuff that will limit their weaknesses like Mullen did last year.

I am too, and if Gus proves me wrong I will hate him forever.

I’ll believe it when I see it

I mean I kind of believe it, but I’ve been scarred too many times.

I don't think an established guy like Chad Morris signed on just to be Gus' crony.

Gus has been the coach since 2013. 7 years under his belt as a head coach, 6 at Auburn.

In ALL but 1 season at Auburn he has at least 4 losses. 5 most seasons.

Now you are right Gus runs a tight ship. He runs a clean program. We have good graduation rates and don't have players being arrested.

But college football is all about results on the field. Having 4 or 5 Ls EVERY SINGLE SEASON gets OLD.

Gus is doing a fine job running the AU football program.

If by "doing a fine job running the AU football program" you mean being like 7-15 combined against your 3 biggest rivals, giving up the series lead vs UGA, losing 4 games every single season after year 1 (5 most seasons,) and losing to inferior bowl teams almost yearly then you are absolutely right.

If that isn't what you meant... Well...

I’m gonna pull a bitch like the politics people can we keep this about this seasons fall camp? And not a Gus’ failure thread every thread on the board is about Gus being a horrible coach. More projections and discussions about possible x and o’s.

In that, what is considered a great season? Good season, average season, bad season.

For me...
Great 9-1/10-0
Good 8-2,7-3
Average 6-4
Bad anything 5 wins or below..

Remember we play 4 teams going into the season ranked higher then us and 4 teams with a more talented roster. Just for context.

I say good so 2-3 losses Corch.

I think the OL will be better than last year. Council was not here, Brahms had a bad leg, and Troxell didnt play at all. The others have more experience and a year of growth.

To say these guys could not beat out the starters last year, better question, could the starters last year beat out these guys now...Look no further than Brahms. We will see light years of improvement this year, they put that poor fella out on the field fresh off a leg injury. Bone may have been healed but it takes months to build back the atrophied muscles, its the reason you saw such improvement in him the latter part of the season.

New players to make an impact on offense, MAR, Frazier, Capers.

That is 100% truth... if those are the results we deem acceptable the price paid for such is extremely over inflated. I’d rather invest the $$$ in our basketball and baseball programs to give them the needed assistance to win championships instead of feeding a bloated cash cow that leaves its fan base with a mediocre product.

I agree. If posters want to go after Gus, I have no problem with it, but just create a thread called 'All about Gus' and they/we can write all we feel about his coaching all during the year. But keep the Fall Camp thread about on the field stuff.

For the record, I only think we play 3 ranked ahead of us. (Bama, Ga, LSU). It will be tough to be great playing two of them away.

I think 8-2 is better than good because of that, and 7-3 more realistic, bc Gus tends to lose to 1 other team other than GA/Alabama when we are visitors.

Yep. Which is why 6-4 seems right for this season. Same ole Gus,but now he gets to blame Covid.

I have Gus going 0-2 to start the season. I'm already preparing my melt

You really believe we are losing to Kentucky? man dont be so negative. You guys hate on Gus all year but never give him any credit. We play 3 of the top programs in the nation each year that is tough. All of our rivals are at the highest the probably have ever been, but if it was up to half of the posters here we would fire our coach every 2 years and go get whoever is currently at UAB, USA, or some horrible Big 12 program.

Georgia Southern played without 33 players Saturday.

Would SEC have a game where a team had more than 33% of the scholarship players unavailable?

With COVID19 stuff, this season could go up or down or sideways.

Needs to be a sticky at the top. We could have a 3L champion this year.

I don't think the SEC has released the final ruling on what will constitute a postponement.

Imagine Missouri going into week 1 against bama without their entire starting OL, half their starters on D and their QB. What would be the point of playing that game?

I have to think something like that's going to happen at some point this year and I wouldn't mind that being the case for uga when we play them in week 2. It'll be real interesting to see what happens with their QB situation and if they roll out a true freshman.

The stats I’m looking at show they were 49th in nation in rushing defense. 7th in SEC as well.
Take away the SECCG and their bowl. Where did they stand then?

I’m honestly curious. I remember them being ranked roughly #2 before we played them...

They are waiting to see how it fricks Bama, and Sabans request for a postponement will become the rule. Book it.
