Ive always enjoyed doing this as well EXCEPT for the fact you can hear the stadium react to big plays before you see it on the tv. Does that bother you at all?

Quite the opposite actually. It's a great warning that something good/bad is about to happen and to stop talking to your buddy for a second to turn and watch. The Kick 6 Game and the roar of the crowd is something that I'll never forget.

Being outside the stadium for the Kick 6 would be like pulling out with Scarlett Johansson.

Yall snobs

U of Montevallo '94 (baseball/home ec scholly never took a home ec class tho) all I studied was baseball and GIRLS. The Home economics department was run and named after the wife of a Judge that was friends with my grandfather who coached the semi-pro league Dothan Boll Weevils baseball team back in the late 30's 40's and 50's. 5 uncles played minor league or semi-pro ball. 1 first cousin (nick name was the yankee killer) played for the Indians and other pro teams, 1 first cousin played minor league baseball and then stopped and went pro on the old Nike Tour PGA as a pro golfer. Brother played Football at ummmm bammer. Was the equivalent of Mr. Football at the awards banquet 7 individual trophies were given out and he won 5 of the 7 in 1977 in high school.

Puffs out chest... Can I just say sports is in my DNA and Auburn is my team. Can I be allowed as a sidewalk Alum?

1982, Accounting.

Hated it. Played in a band, worked in radio, ended up in TV. Never really used my AU degree (which is good, since I sucked at it).

Since you went against the grain here with your nonAuburn college, I will add mine for everyone to laugh at

And nearly everyone here probably envies you a little. You have 2 successful business, one growing by the minute, both in an industry that many of us love, got a woman that loves you and you're about to buy your retirement home on the water. Well done, my man!

I doubt many of you would do what I do on a daily basis. Grunt work my man. Grunt work. Nothing glorious about doing this crap. Its just a grind. Right now I have 100,000 jiheads that need packaging. Will be doing a lot of that myself... Saves money and I know its done right. Nothing great about doing that.

I do miss the engineering field but then I dont. Like everything in life, you like one thing till you get that then you want something else. Im OK with doing the manual stuff I do. Its been fun and rewarding. But there is nothing glorious about working in my dungeon everyday. That will be over soon I hope

I read some of the stories in the other post this week. Very interesting learning a little about some of your stories. Jang especially. I did not grow up poor. Not rich either. I grew up working for the most part. I had things and was lucky to have great parents but they really didnt give me anything. I paid my way through college and eventually helped pay my wife college for 20 years. She did not go to pharmacy school till after we were married and I finished my school. We lived pretty slim for the first few years we were married. I would never call it poor but we did struggle at times.
I have always been a worker and probably always will. I may not be cut for anything else. Maybe having great parents was a privilege but its not something I apologize for. They taught me things that I used in my life. I just hope I was able to teach my boys a tenth of what my patents taught me. My wife was not so lucky. She Grew up very poor and her parents just didnt have the means to do anything for her and honestly never tried. Her school cost us 150K and we paid every dime back ourselves.

I applied for 3 colleges when I was a senior of high school. Auburn, UGA and Georgia Tech. Got accepted to all and never spend a day at any of them. Decided to get married (Not sure why) and went to tech school to get my piece of paper. Had a job in my home town lined up when I graduated. Was working on a truck line on Morland Avenue through college. I was unloading trucks for $12.50 per hour. Started my engineering job for $10 per hour. Kept that truck line job at night and weekends while my wife went to school for 5 years. Worked all day engineering, nights unloading freight at Thurston...

I appreciate the ones who shared their stories....

I was about two blocks away, on a condo deck. We were watching an older, analog TV. Inside, they were watching a brand new TV. We heard the stadium roar and, at first, it made no sense. Then we heard the people inside start yelling. Then we saw it on our TV. Each was about a second after the other. It was all quite strange, and quite wonderful. From the volume of the roar coming from the stadium, you knew it was something good...just didn't know what.

JM, '82

Worked in three newspapers during my college years, including two years straight at one before going back to finish. Started out as an internship, but lasted longer. Haven't worked in one since. Sure am glad I'm not still in the newspaper business.
