Watching UF last week and today, I’m glad so far we didn’t get Sumrall.

He could be Malzahn 2.0. Win enough to keep your fan base engaged, then crap the bed when it matters!

It’s year one and he went into Jordan Hare and won convincingly and he beat top ten Ole Miss.

I’d take that over “hasn’t won a damn thing in three coaches.”

By that logic, we did much worse. We got a coach who appears to be in over his head, misfired in the portal and may be counting Baylor as his marquis win in 2026.

I suspect Sumrall will be fine.

I’m hoping Smurphy’s reasoning has some smoke why were a majority of G5’s

Who knows, but after tonight, the clear winner here could be Kentucky.

As I recall they even played UA good for a half.

I think teams 4-13 in the SEC are fairly scrambled this season.

I hate to admit it, but Drinkwitz is one of the better coaches in the league.

Yeah and funny thing is if you go through our coaching search threads we were all bashing him, thinking he wasn’t good enough for the AU job. I know he had his few supporters but I was on the wrong side of history for sure.

Yeah. I missed on him and Rhett.

Problem with Drink is upside, but he's a solid coach. But obviously getting back to 8 wins consistently would be a big deal for us right now. Mizzou definitely killed it with their QB transfer.

Will Stein is the one we might have missed on. After we pissed off Sumrall and before we announced Golesh he was the name I was interested seeing us look into. He's been impressive at Kentucky so far, and I loved his offense at Oregon.

Probably deserves to be at least tier 1b if Golesh flames out.

In addition to on the field stuff, he is in the habit of really working his arse off for NIL. Obviously would be better at AU.

I think it’s worth remember Mizzou fans have been at the point of wanting him fired too. He is unbelievably inconsistent and until this year, really hasn’t been able to beat anyone ranked. They have been great this year. No doubt though.

Drink was not cheap last year. Occasional 9-4 will come at a steep price

Was the easiest choice in portal history. There’s a reason he was Freshwater’s QB1 at old piss before getting hurt.

He is maxing Mizzou. We could give him a higher ceiling.

I want us to start over from ad forward if we fall flat this time. A total reconstruction and a public admittance of failure for a decade.

Maybe, but can't say I'd be interested in paying him 11+ mil a year over 6-7 years to find out. At least Golesh's salary is a good bit easier to buy out after next season if he completely tanks.

I didn't know you were paying the coaches salary.

As much as everyone likes to pretend the big money guys have endless pockets, all the money we have to spend on coach buyouts is money that could be spent on NIL. And it really puts us behind the curve.

I'd rather see us take a chance on a great OC or DC and try again in a couple years if it doesn't work out than see us stuck with a mediocre coach because they are paid too much. I know everything is inflated in CFB these days, but Drink isn't the kinda coach you break the bank on.
