Minchey was committed to Nebraska and Kentucky came in and outbid them for him. He makes between $2 and $3m this year. The OT makes $2m.

Minchey makes ~$2M. Byrum Brown makes $3M. I didn't claim that Minchey was paid nothing, just that they didn't go out and try to find the most expensive QB on the market. Which obviously gave them more money to spend on the OL.

Stein just spent his money better, period. Kentucky's overall spending isn't massive, so the issue here isn't that Kentucky is "serious" and Auburn isn't. Golesh had the opportunity to do what Stein did, if he wanted to.

It took me watching Brown one series at Aday to know he wouldn't work in the SEC. Horrible evaluation on Golesh's part.

I am continually amazed that Golesh had him for 3 years at USF and they never corrected that goofy arse throwing motion. Seems like a fix you could and would want to make in an off-season or two and the dividends would be huge. He had no ability to quick-trigger any throws at all and I think it contributes to him holding the ball as long as he does. The OL has indeed been bad, but he has also had plenty of time in the pocket on many plays with receivers running open and he just can’t get it out quickly. Because of that goofy hitch, he has to wait for a play to fully develop and that’s not gonna happen in the SEC.

It is concerning. And we have Rivers and Seaborn in state now and he takes the Gadsden City QB. It is not looking good.
