Bowden’s money was less “buyout”…more keep your mouth shut money. There was a suit and a settlement with a gag order in exchange for a monetary settlement and use of a lake house owned by the alumni association for 5 years. The gag order even included Bobby Bowden, and Auburn also cancelled the FSU/Auburn game and paid a buyout to them as well.
I’m not sure anyone will ever know the full story about Bowden and what went down but it was a pretty sordid affair. That was peak Lowder.
Also a part of that entire ordeal was the lawsuit by Oliver claiming he was promised the HC job, Auburn settled with him too.

So not to break up the love fest but I’ve seen a few people say a few pages back that you cannot quit mid season and still get a buy out.
I will remind those people we had a coach quit in the middle of the season the night before a game and somehow we still ended up paying him a buyout.
I never understood ole Tater Tot getting his buyout after quitting but he absolutely did.

Since today could very well be the final nail in the potato coffin, I have prepared a very special Updated new Auburn coach list. Here we go:
1. Prime
2. Grimes
3. Kiffen
4. Dell McGee
5. The new staff will be chosen by the winner of an all-out no rules cage tag team match between Team Corch/Jang/Poker and Team Goose/Alpine/Blzr. Absolutely no rules will be allowed ( that’s the only rule). The match will be officiated by Jones, if the violence doesn’t make him too queasy. Note: Jones only payment will be an extra tall triple soy pumpkin latte.
