Jordan Palmer thinks so.

Nix is attached to him as a student now, so Palmer is a bit biased, but thought it was worth sharing.

Burrow looked like a day 3 guy before last season so I’m willing to wait and see what happens the next few years before issuing a hot take here

He worked at Palmers camp with Joe B a few months ago. He is big on Nix.

The talent has always been there for Nix, that has never been the question.

Here's an interesting quote from the article. Looks like Gus changed his mind about outside QB coaches

quote:

When Auburn's Bo Nix approached coach Gus Malzahn about working with Palmer last summer, Malzahn called his former quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who had worked with Palmer before being drafted by the Patriots. After Stidham sang Palmer's praises, Malzahn gave Nix his blessing.

quote:

I think it is fair to walk back only a little and say Palmer believes Nix has #1 potential. I'd imagine his credibility in NFL circles is part of his sales pitch, so I doubt he hypes kids beyond their reasonable expectations.

If Bo goes #1 in 2 years, that will be great for us, because it will take two awesome seasons to go #1 as a JR

To fully realize Bo's potential, he will need to play in a real offense. Chad could possibly provide that if Gus will let him... Seems unlikely based on Malzahn's history with OCs.

Idk about all that, but Bo has a lot of talent and is going to be one of the best QBs in the SEC for the next couple years IMO.

I don't imagine there will be much crow eating from the most egregious of Nix's haters, but it'll fun to watch tRant's group narrative on him change.

Weird to not have a real offense on average of his time at AU, Malzahn has averaged the 4th - 5th offense in the SEC each year. Actually the average finish is 4.6. Just imagine if we had a "real offense". And for those that say well the game is catching up with his schemes blah blah blah. AU finished 3rd behind bama and lsu last year with a true freshman QB and a mediocre OL.

Scoring 50+ in meaningless games versus Kent State, Miss State, Arkansas, and Samford does wonders for the ppg average.

We only scored 30+ once (vs. Bama) other than the games listed above.

Oh we only scored against bad teams... Well doesn't everyone else pad stats on bad teams as well?

We have a pretty good scheme, we have pretty good players, we have a pretty good playcaller. We will be pretty good most of the time.

I like Gus as a coach. I like the offense. I like the recruiting in general. The only thing that has really bothered me during his time is his record against UGA and seems we always have a hole in the roster somewhere. It was linebacker. Now it's OL. However, I'm not sure defensive back isn't going to be our biggest weakness next season that is if we do play in the fall.

Since opponents were brought up. Over the past decade essentially most of Gus' time on the plains who would you say generally has the most difficult schedule in the nation year over year?

We do have good players which is why we are pretty good most of the time. But play calling is a mess. Not sure how you could watch that Minnesota game and think we have a good offense.

I’m curious to see what happens now that the SECW bottom feeders all upgraded coaches.

I agree Corch. I also think this group of receivers/TE/HBs are the best class we have had in years. Should go quite a ways to helping Bo's success.

On a sidenote, I hope the new OC scheme of utilizing the HB more will get Joiner some more playing time, kid is a heck of an athlete with size.

Or a good defense either.

Bowl games are hit or miss, sometimes the prep works, sometimes it don’t

Thats true.

Some coaches seem to do well in bowl games and others can't win em.

Even Bear Bryant lost or tied like 8 bowl games in a row.
