Frankly, he’s not. But he’s no worse, either.

I’m sure you’ll see plenty of records and stats, but the bottom line is - winner so far, unproven at this level, unknown floor but unknown ceiling, too. (All jusy like Sumrall, except I guess that Golesh is an offensive guy.)

At least we are taking a shot! Beats a ho-hum Durkin hire (IMHO).

Cohen needs to send a Christmas card to the reporter that leaked the Golesh to Arky story a few days ago.

Those words can never be spoken. Kind of like “Jake Holland on the missed tackle.”

Not sure how this is better than Sumerall?

Not sure there is a clear cut answer there but I also don’t think there is a clear cut answer Sumerall is better.

Golesh is a good coach and has done a good job turning USF around from the dumpster fire they were. He’s coached a decent amount of places so he has some decently wide recruiting base he will be familiar with.

I don't think we can say he is better but I think we can say he is probably better than what we were expecting lately

Sumrall inherited a much better situation at Tulane than Golesh did at USF.

That is for certain.

I think it would be great if we kept DJ. I don't dislike the guy at all it was just clear he should never have been a top candidate for our job

For sure, but he also inherited probably a similarly bad situation at Troy and did a great job turning them around. Either way, I think whatever “potential” someone sees in Sumerall, there is easily as good with Golesh. Different guys completely but anyone should be as excited for him as they would be for Sumerall all I’m saying.

I’m cautiously optimistic with this hire.

For sure. I would have been alright with either. Like you said, not too much of a difference to prefer one over the other by a wide margin.
