How do I apply to become part of the potato gang and Cam Fairley jimmy rustlers?

Leave a chair reserved for jangalang on the outside of your tailgating tent facing your fancy TV. Shade unnecessary. Beer needed.

Yards per Play:

Arizona State - 6.37
Auburn - 5.84

Some other offenses for reference:
OSU- 7.78
Ole Miss - 6.55
Bama - 6.64
Tennessee - 6.5
Michigan - 6.41
Oklahoma - 6.78
Clemson - 5.25
LSU - 5.34

I noticed you didn't include any PAC12 teams in your reference. However, to my surprise, ASU stacked up pretty well, trailing only Oregon State and Utah, and just barely at that (ASU averaged 6.40 tp OSU's 6.44 and the Utes' 6.41)

Also of note was how consistent this offensive measure was across the board, regardless of opponent - ASU didn't run up and down the field against its cupcakes and go into a shell vs quality opponent:

Yards per play
All games: 6.40
VS P5: 6.28
VS Ranked: 6.34
VS FBS Winning: 6.32

I don't see Zak as a 'homerun' hire, but then again I don't know if there's any OC out there who would fit that description who isn't already in a better situation than AU can offer right now, with so much roster uncertainty on that side of the LOS.

ETA: Source for ASU numbers

Click that link and then compare them to AU's offensive performance. Particularly the splits between P5/Non-P5 opponents, and the changes from the beginning of the season to the end.

Just scrolled through and picked offenses that I knew how good/not good they were.

Don’t know if I’ve watched a PAC 12 game all year long

I dunno, guys, I think if it were gonna be Hill it would have happened already. What would be the hold-up? ASU is done.

Nah, Harsin is going after Grimes (Baylor) or Ludwig (Utah). I mean nothing else makes sense. Those two guys have games this weekend and Harsin isn't gonna be a dirtbag and poach them early.

Now if we come back next week with Hill, that means Harsin missed on his targets.

I really hope he can pull Grimes, but it's gonna be hard. Grimes is a Broyles finalist and deserves a HC job (he's long overdue for one). Will he really move AGAIN for an OC position? Harsin is gonna have to make the money talk, so let's hope Greene is onboard to do it.

My guess is that Ludwig is the number 1 at this point. His connection to Mason as well as similar offensive philosophy as Harsin.

I would love Grimes but I think he's going to be a Head Coach this year or next. I think he is going to be a good head coach as well if he can get a great staff together.

People won’t believe it but the rant was actually a great place before ATPB. It has been all downhill since then.

I have mixed emotions if Ludwig is an actual candidate for AU OC. He's a perfect OC for Whittingham and Ludwig has things clicking going on 3 years now. Whittingham is a lot like Dye in that his offensive beliefs are usually 'don't screw things up' and 'don't turn the ball over'. Whittingham fully trusts Ludwig which is unusual, and if Whit has a weakness its been hiring good OC's.

Here's some OU/Utah highlights: OU/Utah. It was a straight-up beatdown.

We play Oregon again this weekenend for the PAC-12 Championship and I expect a much closer game.

I know they're under NCAA investigation - did they self-impose a bowl penalty this year?

(for those of you not keeping score at home, the Sun Devils finished with an 8-4 record)

We're all probably wrong. What if Harsin comes back with someone like a Mullen? Not saying he will hire Mullen (they have different styles), but what if it is a "big name" we're overlooking?

I’d have LOVED to have gotten Whittingham here.

If Auburn doesn't hire Jeff Grimes, which I don't think that they will and if Friend leaves, this guy might be a candidate for OL coach. Just a guess on my part.

Scott Huff

Change in staff at Washington, ties to Harsin and Boise.
