As Promised- My Thoughts on Mini- Pearl

Great win and can be impactful. Our guys looked like a team that finally believed they could win after getting shook. That had not happened yet.
Yes we were up by 18 in the second half but Florida tied the ballgame with 9 long minutes left. From there our maturity stood out. Auburn easily could have folded from there saying "welp we tried!" But we didn't. From there our team played exceptionally hard on defense and stuck to the gameplan and out gritted a good team for nearly nine minutes of crunch time.
Where do we go from here? Well there is a lot of season left. We still cannot count on Hall to always bring his A-game every game. He is a volume shooter that has to shoot in a lot more gyms. We can count on a cohesive team though. Freeman, Sway, Overton, and Pettiford have to mature offensively to the point that we can still win when Hall catches a cold. We did that in the last 9 minutes and hit all of our FT's down the stretch. That's how we win.
Next, my buy-in can only materially grow or dwindle after he recruits the next team. Once I see what we are working with then I will figure out how well we are situated for the future. Until then yesterday was just a great win. Yes we won in Gainesville but Harsin also won in Red stick. My thoughts on Bruce and Steven have not changed but my mood has improved. I am an Auburn basketball fan and want and need Pearl to do well.
I do concede Auburn probably makes the tournament though. The Florida win should help a ton.

Can we wait 1 season before we are trying to make judgement on his coaching. We could get on a roll or just go on a losing streak.
So far other then the blown lead earlier in conference I think Steven has does as expected for a coach. He seems to be a decent motivator and the staff is very good at game plans.

I think at this point Steven has proven he has what it takes to be a good Xs and Os coach. But to Jang's point, we'll see if he can handle the recruiting part. Having a solid season and making the tournament should help with that. And we are looking solid on that point now after these last five games, just gotta keep the momentum going.

Im in a pretty similar place in regards to Steven. Let's see how good he is at refocusing the team for what on paper is an infinitely easier game. I would also like to see a little more development from the guards. Tahaad can not play this many high pressure minutes a game. He was gassed in the second half and made some poor decisions because of it. We have to find some depth behind him and a way to get him off the ball more often so he can get a few in game breathers

Pretty much agree with all of this. I think Steven was the natural successor to Bruce although Bruce did his son and AU no favors for bailing like he did. Also, Cohen was a moron for giving mini-Pearl (I like the nickname btw) a 5-year deal. Should have been 3.

For those of us who have not seen the Gettysburg's addresses referred to in this post, it would be beneficial to see Corch's and the other entertaining post referenced. They must have been remarkably memorable for some of you and I would welcome the opportunity to see these hall of fame addresses.
In fact a fun topic would be hall of fame posts from the past that have had enduring memories for whatever reason for the Auburn family posters here.

They called out the Steven haters last night while gloating about the game( they forgot about the A&M game). I told them I would let them enjoy the night before I gave my thoughts. Should my thoughts have come more organically?

I think we’re getting better and better defensively. I think we could press more at spots. We’re a 1x1 team so we have to be hitting those shots. We’re still missing too many open 3’s.
