I defended the guy in the spring. Since then nothing has changed. Recruiting is still a shite show. Games have been poorly prepared for and executed. Decision making is questionable.

I can no longer defend the staff.

I just feel like if he actually cared about his job, he might be a half way decent coach. His lack of getting on the recruiting trail alone is reason to fire him, then you add all the other issues on top of that.

People supported Harsin initially because he was a new guy, and we finally got out from underneath Gus.

But clearly he needs to be gone sooner than later. Just wondering which booster is going to write yet another check for another stupid as frick buyout.

I supported Harsin, just like any fan should because he was new and needed a chance to prove himself just like any coach.
The Harsin experiment will be worth it if Auburn gets their shite together and gets the right guy this time.

I was against the Harsin hire from day 1. I did not believe that he could handle coaching in the SEC or that he could recruit effectively in the south.

I supported him, just like I did Dye, Bowden, Tubbs, Chizik, Gus. Just like I'll support the next guy, until we want buy him out.

I do believe that Harsin didn't get the fair shake. I believe you've got to jump in the boat with the new coach with both feet. Let him fail or succeed on his own merit. With Harsin, we kept a foot in the boat and one on the dock. He didn't get full support. It looks like he'd have failed by his own merit, but he can always whine to Thamel that AU sabotaged him.

This is why the AD hire may be a lot more important than the coaching hire.

What went down in Feb/Mar was all on Harsin. Mason/Bobo left for a valid reason after what was said in a Staff meeting related to recruiting. Mason reported it and got the hell out. Had Mason signed a piece of paper Harsin would be out on his arse with no paycheck. Players found out what went down. That was the reason for mass exodus in the spring. Coaching is like a fraternity.. dirty secrets are most kept between the brothers.
The BOT and others are who were able to keep Tank here, not Harsin.
The BOT including Rane did not try and run Harsin off. The issue came to them. They know what went down and trying to clean it up.
I don't think Rane and the BOT were involved in the hiring process of Harsin all on Green. But bet your arse Rane is involved with this next hire.
There have also been some isues with members of his family. So much more that we will never know about. This is all on Harsin.

Not necessarily in any order. My opinion...
Freeze
Kiffin
Lebby
Grimes
Rhule
*** dark horse.. I think a certain coach in the SEC eastern division has expressed interest and have chatted. However, both sides are respecting the fact he is the race for division and letting it play out. Would be home run hire.
Just opinion

Stolen from another board: The Running Harsin Disaster Timeline. This timeline is more active than the recruiting board.

quote:

Sept 26th – Harsin Fires a respected local WR coach for seemingly no reason

Oct 25th – Harsin refuses to admit whether or not he has been vaccinated for COVID around a team of student athletes. Also fails to disclose whether or not he is encouraging students to get vaccinated against COVID

Nov 6th – Nov 27th – 5 straight losses

Nov 29th -- Harsin fires Mike Bobo after one season

Dec 15th – Auburn salvages recruiting class after doing no recruiting during the season and is able to move up from 45th to 17th in the team rankings

Dec 18th – Harsin hires Austin Davis as QB coach as he has decided he will call plays now

Dec 28th – Auburn loses to Houston with Harsin calling plays

Jan 7th – Nick Eason Leaves auburn for Clemson

Jan 11th – Our two biggest rivals play for a national championship

Jan 21st – Derek Mason leaves Auburn for the same position at OK State making significantly less money

Jan 22nd – Auburn cancels Junior day due to lack of recruit interest

Jan 22nd - Auburn internally promotes Jeff Schmedding to DC (lol)

Jan 29th – Auburn has 9 2023 kids show up at Junior Day (lol)

Feb 1st – Austin Davis decides not to coach for Auburn after being on campus for 1 recruiting event

Feb 2nd – Auburn doesn’t sign a single player on National Signing Day

Feb 4th – Harsin takes a well-earned vacation

Feb 1st-11th – Rumors about Harsin begin to swirl and Auburn launches an internal investigation into Bryan Harsin 1 months after hiring the idiot. During this time he refuses to come home from vacation to cooperate

Feb 11th – Auburn announces were keeping Haskin after he has been turned nuclear

Feb 19th -- Auburn finally internally promotes Eric Kiesau to OC after 2 world wide searches (this after he already told Harsin he didn't feel quit

quote:

Feb 28th – Dead Period Over

Feb 28th – Mar 3 – Nothing at all

Mar 3rd – Harsin MIA around Auburn and back on vacation baby (don’t worry its spring break)

May 29th - September 8th - In an effort to win back the fanbase, Harsin releases the “Huddle with Hars” podcast, releasing 14 episodes despite only having 8 commitments in the 2023 class.

Late August or some shite: told ESPN about starting QB before he told the team- told everyone to “just watch” when asked if he had a message for recruits

September 17th- auburn has it’s shite pushed in on live television by a 8 win penn state team while rotating two absolute garbage QBs all while wasting the best home crowd showing and atmosphere Auburn fans have brought together in the past 3 years

September 19th - still at single digit commits for 2023 class

September 22nd: QB1 competition open between a baseball player from Oregon and a gorgeous young freshman after the back up from last year gets injured and the guy harsin brought in to start opts for sir-jury and a medical redshirt el oh fvcking el

:wellwerewaitinggif:

I think you’ve given enough specific info in this post that you can’t claim that you would give away your source if you told us exactly what was said that caused Mason to leave (and wasn’t Bobo was long gone before Mason quit?)

Harsin’s performance speaks for itself - there’s no point in making dark insinuations without telling the whole story. If he said something that literally caused a well-respected SEC veteran report it to the AD or the President, then quit to make a lateral move at a cut in pay, then you may as well tell us exactly what was said.

Orherwise its bullshite.

I wanted CGM gone.

I wanted CBH to succeed.

I want us to be relevant to SEC championships and playoff.

I want us to recruit great linemen and find generational QB every now and then.

I supported him just like I will give every AU coach a chance, but he has not learned from his mistakes, recruiting still sucks and we look like crap on offense. I had doubts after the 1st two games but after PSU its clear dude has to go.

I will never root against Auburn but I hope a change is made during the bye week so we can get a coach lined up by SEC Champ week to recruit before ESD.

I’ll fess up. I liked the hire initially, for many of the reasons it ended up failing: it was an outside the box choice, free from booster intervention, featuring a guy who was the most successful HC on paper we had ever hired, and who would come in without the good-ol-boy mentality that permeates so much of the SEC coaching fraternity.

Even after all the shite that went down in year 1, I still thought he was stubborn enough to turn it around this year, and would instill in the team a “us vs them” mentality that would surprise the rest of the league.

But when the team literally fell apart last Saturday, and his reaction was essentially a petulant, pissed off version of the Iraqi military spokesman, it seems clear that the guy just doesn’t give a shite, which is absolutely inexcusable.

I supported him up until the Penn St debacle. I bought into the tough, QB whisperer stuff but it’s clear now, time to rip the bandaid off.

Can't do that. Call bullshite all you want doesn't bother me.
I am just tired of everyone crapping on the BOT for things that are just not true. They have the best interest of Auburn.
Since Shug, except for Barfield, every Auburn coach has competed for Championships.
