Thats another bad take. Auburn is the perfect landing spot for great Qbs. We just cant fricking get them here. When we do, we hang banners.

It's a lazy take. Everything can change, especially in the NIL Era. Even decent QBs picking Auburn

f we strike out on Knight, I

No one ever 100% knows, but I still believe he will be at Auburn. Lane likes transfer QBs, not sure he has the patience for a freshman.

Lane's going to mess with Hugh just because he can. And I expect Hugh will do nothing less in return. Lot's of nail biting and history in the making.

If we strike out on Knight, I'd look for a strong portal transfer or DTHB to take the reigns next year with a stud '26 Qb committed early.

Problem is most of the good 26 qbs are committed already.

I do think we take a portal QB this year even if we land Deuce.

The 3 QBs we’ve been going after now (Juju, Deuce, Kj) are committed elsewhere.

Not particularly worried if 26 guys are committed already.

Really Chex, who are they? Where are these great QB's that we landed in the past?

Auburn has not been a great landing spot for QB's in the past. They have all mostly been projects.

Jeff Burger
Reggie Slack
Stan White
D. Craig
Ben Leard
Jason Campbell
Brandon Cox
Cam Newton
Nick Marshall
Jarrett Stidham
Bo Nix

Pretty decent group there.

That spans pretty much the past 30ish years I know I missed a couple as well.

Cam was a great Qb that we convinced to come to Auburn. Stidham was a great Qb that we convinced to come to Auburn. Both brought success. Bo to some to degree as well.

Hence they werent great Qbs. We've been saddled with some below average talent for years.

Keenan Britt dominated last night. Hopefully, he earns his spot in the 26 class.

Cam Newton

Thats almost a 20 year span. Now go look at UGA, LSU or Bama and see what they brought in during that same span. And other than a legacy, none of those guys committed from highschool. We were not their first choice

Which is what I was getting at. Auburn has not bee a first choice for highly rated QB's. Not in recent years which is what kids these days know. Most high school kids now do not even know any player from before 2000

I think so as well.

So we close fall with three QBs, soon to be a fourth in Knight, two of which will be making a sizeable chunk of change having never played a down.....and we will have to spend a fortune on a transfer and hope the others we have invested time and money in hang around.

Unless one of the backups takes a huge, huge step forward. But a one year transfer would give one of the current back ups time to develop (Deuce will probably take two years).

Do you remember the argument you’re responding to?

Here’s Chex’s quote:
quote:

Auburn is the perfect landing spot for great Qbs. We just cant fricking get them here. When we do, we hang banners.

So arguing that we haven’t landed any/many isn’t a great response to that since it’s literally what he said.

Stidham and Cam absolutely apply as Stud QBs who were thought of as studs before they came here. Cam obviously had as much success as you could dream of. Stidham didn’t have as good of a run but 2017 was pretty good.

The argument against Chex would be Bo Nix/Stidham. Bo Nix didn’t hang any banners. Stidham didn’t hang any banners.

Walker White was a QB that Clemson liked a lot also top 5-7 at his position. The moment that freeze showed up he identified wanting Walker and got him. In a few weeks we'll (probably) have a top 3 choice who just happens to be another top 50 player overall. We're currently getting the dudes who can change the narrative.

Yes, I absolutely missed the rest of his post and he was correct.

Yep Brandon Cox. Dude was a gamer never lost to Alabama. Threw for almost 7k yards in an era where you threw it less then 20 times a game.

You don’t have to be drafted or play in the NFL to be a great college QB.

Na. Not in a while. Bout to put a half of a huge grouper on the pellet smoker and put some fresh okra in the oven to toast..... Making homemade pinnaple salsa to go on the smoked fish

Just a honest mistake. It happens....

He left us for Oregon and played great and got drafted high. I’d say he had choices. He was a “legacy” commit however.
