Western Kentucky OL transfer Gunner Britton will visit per KN. It'll most likely be an OV.

My brain read this and I thought,

Glad to see the OL recruiting continues

This guys a stud and would be an immediate starter opposite Dillon Wade. Was fifth in pass pro nationally by PFF. 3rd rated portal OT on On3.

Big if its an OV. We only have 4 left, so if we're using one on someone we feel good about them imo.

Looks like Miss St, So Carolina and UCLA are among his other suitors but no crystal balls anywhere. He’s from Conway SC so USCe may be one to watch.

So schools are limited on the # of OVs? How does that work with a new staff ?

quote:Yeah there's a limit. I forget what it is. Not sure how a new staff affects anything, but on ESD KN mentioned that we we're down to 4 OVs left so we we're going to have to get guys in on unofficials or to commit without visiting.

With a coaching change, if a player has already OV’d under the previous coach they can come back and OV again with the new coach and it doesn’t count against the athlete or the school. Aka it helps only with players that OV’d under Harsin.

May just need to graduate from CC then try to transfer as a grad transfer if he’s wanting to improve draft stock.
I would think he would be close, he’s been at Coastal 3.5 years

Yep. And for whoever asked about totals —
Schools get 56 OVs per year. You can carry over unused OVs to the next year but it’s capped at 6. Auburn carried over 6 from the previous year so they had 62 total. Down to 4 left
It’s why we say it’s a big deal when guys OV. Not only because the kid gets the full experience at no cost but because the school only hands those out to guys they think they’ve got a good shot at

Sounds like a lot but in reality, probably isnt

Doesn't really sound like alot compared to the number of recruits we go after.

The number of OV’s allowed is increasing for the next cycle which is good.

Auburn is 3 hours travel distance closer than Bowling Green, I like our chances with Mr. Gunner Britton.

Well if a typical cycle we sign 25 players, 62 seems like enough. Not sure how it pertains to transfers and portal people.
But like I said, it sounds like a lot but it probably isnt for the coaches

Are there "dates" for the transfer portal guys that are important coming up? What Im getting at is, when would we know they portal guys who are available and when we would sign them by?
Is there some kind of cut off date or is it just a free flowing time line that players can enter and be taken by teams that have available spots?
