FWIW I’ve read Miller is the backup for both the tackle spots

Yes Miller is probably the number 3 OT. Much like if things got sideways and Jones got injured because Lew is so young he they may move Tate and/or Irvin to C just because of experience.

But for practice and drills that's kind of your 2 deep for now. As I mention both Guard positions are still a battle.

As an offensive lineman you have to be able to do a bunch of different stuff in the Freeze/Montgomery offense. They run multiple schemes in the run game. They run middle, outside, and stretch zones, they run gap schemes, counters, pulls.

More quotes ON3:
quote:

Ole Miss transfer Austin Keys is poised to start at the mike linebacker spot. It’s not always perfect, but that’s OK with Josh Aldridge. You can tell he’s got a SEC build already. On top of that, he knows how to practice like a SEC player I’m enjoying his tenacity.

quote:

We’ve heard Eugene Asante‘s name quite a few times during fall camp and Aldridge confirmed the chatter. The former North Carolina transfer is making waves and is apparently a “joy” to be around. He’s going to be an impact player on defense. “From the time I got hired, I don’t know that anybody had better energy than he did, maybe on our whole team. He works so hard in the weight room, changed his body. Someone told me he was like 205-ish, he’s over 220 now.

He’s what we like in a will linebacker that can cover and do multiple things. He’s big enough. He doesn’t have a bad day in terms of his attitude ever. He plays the next play. He’s made those guys around him better.

quote:

Speaking of Sings, Aldridge said don’t be fooled by his pedigree coming from Liberty. “He’s a Power Five football player.”

“I recruited Steve. He was committed to Virginia Tech, had some academic problems, Covid hit and they waived everything academically, and we swooped him and signed him at Liberty. Steve is so genuine and grateful.

I havent seen a damn thing about steiner. are we sure he is playing?

He was in that video that was posted the other day where they were talking about who they'd want to survive in the woods with. Dude is jacked and looks like the prototypical linebacker.

Concerns for me right now are rushing the passer. Hopefully the dude from App State can get it done. Not sure where else it comes from.

Sounds like DL is something similar to this

NT Rogers/Jones/Sledge
3T Harris/L. Johnson/Reed/Walker/Sledge
5T Kite/Faulk/Reed/Walker

Edge will be multiple but McAllister\Mcleod\Sings

They’ve had Faulk out at edge I thought?

Edit: he’s been running with 1s at DE

McLeod and Sings were with 1s at Jack lately

Ferg’s impression on the DL:

quote:

Keldric Faulk continues to stand out during every viewing window. His first step is pretty explosive, even when he’s just trying to time up the snap in a drill against air. The hype is real.

That first-team defensive line is a pretty formidable unit, with Stephen Sings V looking like an early-down option at Jack and Jalen McLeod on later downs. For my money, that’s Auburn’s best look up front.

Faulk was at Edge and the 5 but he's moved to the 5 now.

There are very few 290lb outside line backers lol

Yes the Edges will be very down and distance based. Same with a lot of the DL positions.

for example if we are going against a power offense that gets in 11 and 12 personnel a lot the DL would probably be

Harris at the 5, McCalister at the Edge, Jones at the nose, and Rogers at the 3. So being flexible is going to be huge with moving around and certain packages.

I've heard they have actually been one of the more surprising position groups, LB & WR have stood out.

Really looking forward to what we can find out saturday.

I’m more concerned with run defense. Shut the run game down, there’s not many SEC QBs this year that scare me.

He is playing way too big IMO. Dude is a gym nut but I don’t think he needs to be playing much over 230. 245 is way too big for him. He is 6’0, at best.

Seconded.

The thing I’m amazed at is, because of the good work done by CHF and staff in the off-season, OL isn’t Top 3.

Nothing currently in a bad light so the normal rush to the board to bitch folks haven't been here.

We will have a couple days when the "official" 2 deep comes out because someone made a guess when a player was junior in high school that they would be a stud and come and bitch that they are still right and the coaches are wrong because of some stupid reason.
