They don't play in the SEC and they have a much easier path to do what they do than Auburn does.

I'll agree with you on one part of comparing us to Clemson.

It's weird, Clemson has played a different ACC opponent the last 6 years in their conference championship. That tells me the ACC has not had a dominant competitor in the ACC for a while.

But we CAN we a Clemson bc if we could recruit as well as they have been since DAbo, and have a good offense/defense product on the field, then we have just as much a chance to better compete in the SEC for the SECC and any playoffs after.

For Clemson it took a coach like DAbo to come along. Doesn't mean we can't do the same.

Clemson is better than us talent wise and has the same problems we have with recruiting. They’ve just overcome them.

Don’t give in Jonesy. Just ask Rig to start cleaning up the posts and warn, dismiss us if we get out of line. You’re right. Let’s discuss recruiting and enough of the bullshite. Stick to recruiting news. It doesn’t need to devolve into bash Gus, hate Harsin, etc thread.

Clean it up boys and yes that goes for me too. Jonesy does put in extra work to add info. Let’s show him some respect when he asks us to get back on track.

Sure we do. It's not like Clemson was a premier program in their history. They are competing with the big boys in recruiting now a days.

Ive mentioned before, but, one of the few times Saban was pissed at an assistant leaving was when Dabo poached his head of recruiting, and as the results showed....with good reason.

And it sounds like Harsin is doing the same thing on the administrative side.

Clemson doesnt have the recruiting competition we do in state or even close. They have a wide swipe to chose from. They dont have Nick a mile up the road either.

Its different. Very different. Plus, they live in a conference where they can rule due to everyone else just being bad. No real competition year to year

Im not saying we cant do it. Heck we have done it. Im just saying it is a difficult task, if not one of the most difficult in our area

Agree with Lanier 100%.... It’s time for AU to legally level the playing field by maximizing player endorsements via the new rules. Not only must we do this, we must be better at it and inflict maximum pain across the SE.

can not be said enough.

Surely we have enough money people, who at least have connections if they can't participate themselves, to make it very profitable for kids at Auburn.

ETA somebody at Auburn needs to be blowing up Tim Cook daily.

This doesn't make much sense. Clemson's state, South Carolina, does not produce that much talent. Clemson did not become what you see today because they had all this elite instate talent that they had no other competition for. They literally BECAME Clemson by somehow finding a way to go into Florida, Georgia, etc. and taking elite recruits away from schools that had all the advantage in the world over them. CJ Spiller was a 5-star from Florida, Clemson had no "advantage" in recruiting him. Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson were both from Georgia.

The point is: why can't Auburn find a way to do the same? If Clemson can go into Florida and Georgia and sign elite recruits, what is stopping us? Now, they DO have an advantage in being an ACC school and thus it's easier for them to look better than their competition which in effect allowed them to be more visible to recruits, whereas Auburn has to claw and fight for recognition in the SEC. So that part is legit and it's a real thing, but the baseline part about how they have instate recruiting advantage and don't compete against Saban is weak-sauce. They literally beat Saban for Trevor Lawrence, and most of their best players are from states that have powerhouse programs.

In reality, what they did is they were very aggressive in cheating which got them their initial wave of prospects (guys like CJ Spiller). They rode those to success, and then, unlike us they had a coach and system in place to build and sustain and to keep building on that wave. We literally had the STAGE to elevate our program in the same manner, but unfortunately we had incompetent coaches and issues in the BOT that ruined that. That's kind of the historical reality of Auburn: we trip over ourselves.

Both UA and LSU are content with recent NC’s in FB and spoiled.... Money can be made by investing in AU for a company bc our base will get behind it after a long lull due to the inept former HC
