He must not work hard or show up on time for workouts. That seems to be an absolute for this staff.

No worries. We will get the 80th and 81st WR recruits in the country and say we are as talented as the rest of the top teams in the conference.
Not trying to go off the rails here but wasn't everyone saying with the Covid season and the lack of officials and visits that this year was the best year for a coaching change because kids hadn't been on campus trips. Now we are building in excuses. Where's the talk of a new staff bringing new excitement to the recruiting and shite spewed on here about other teams forever. Hasn't Mason, Bobo, Friend, Caddy all been recruiting in the SEC the past few years. Shouldn't they have relationships already.
There are no passes at AU. The expectation is to be a top 10ish school in football in every category every year. We bitched about paying 7 million to Gus we are still paying 5 million for a coach.

Back to recruiting
3* DB Jaylen Lewis named Auburn his clear #1 following his OV. Other schools recruiting him are LSU, UGA, Michigan, and OU. He’s a guy that would be great to lock down soon because he’s pretty popular

Auburn is tied at the top with UF for 4* DB Tre Donaldson. He’s also a 4* PG that’s been offered by Bruce

I’m sure people somewhere thought firing a coach during the middle of (what turned out to be) a 18 month dead period in recruiting was an advantage. Just not sure those people were here (the recruiting thread). Covid really dampened Auburn’s ability to close with kids in the 2021 class and starting midway in the 2022 class with a new head coach from the west coast hasn’t helped.
But I wouldn’t confuse reality with an excuse. Very few people here are giving these coaches a pass. Especially Friend and Bobo - 2 guys we thought were plus recruiters. Though, to be fair, I was down on Friend and jt33 notoriously shite on Bobo. Not sure I was excited about anyone as a recruiter, honestly, with maybe the exception of Mason.
We’re just kind of in wait and see mode. jt33 and I both have already mentioned today what a disaster 2 poor classes will be so I’m not sure what else you expect to be said.
I think it’s also worth pointing out that anonymous takes on a message board arent why we’re now recruiting poorly. We’re just observers around here

I think 4* RB Damari Alston is back on campus today with his high school team for a 7v7 camp. Not exactly sure if that’s today though

Only thing anyone can really say right now is that we hope they step things up soon. Not like any of us have any control over anything.. Unless Lanier wants to take some folks out on the boat and drop the bag lol.

I'm losing faith in Caddy as a recruiter. Even kids he coached at IMG never even gave us a look.
Who has Caddy landed to think he will do well? Tank was overlooked by UGa until late they had players higher on their board. I like Hunter but he isn't someone you would consider a huge get. Henderson we were his leader for well over a year and yet he's committed to bama. I see no all american type backs even mentioning us in the next 2 cycles.

We’ve had a bit of a transfer issue too in that room. I’m still on the fence about Caddy though I think he was essential in Tank’s recruitment. Especially as Tank continued to blow up his senior year.
Agreed on Hunter. I like him a lot
I’d like to get Damari Alston and Quinshon Judkis this class. We’re in the hunt for Omarion Hampton but I think he’s a tOSU guy at the end. Trevonte Citizen is intriguing too

no all american type
And I'm actually glad to see then cast such a wide net since we don't know what level of recruits will remain interested come season's end.... three, 4's, and fives talk to them all.

To be filed under “cool”
3* C Cort Bradley (chose to walk on at AU over scholarship offers from UAB, Air Force, Coastal Carolina) is already a fricking pilot. He’s doing aviation management at Auburn

Visits to Auburn are going EXTREMELY well since June opened up. If you pay attention, some of these kids are making repeat visits already.
These kids are not going to come in and commit on the very first visit to a brand new coaching staff. It just won't happen, especially with the fact that these kids haven't had the opportunity to visit anywhere in person until recently so nobody is "tired" of recruiting visits at this point.
It's going to be a better than expected 2022 class, when taken into account the limitations.
We supposedly also made up a lot of ground with the Hampton kid too. Probably a longshot with UNC looking pretty hot right now, but it moved the needle.

People on here are freaking out because we havent got kids to recruit to a coaching staff that hasnt even coached a game yet. It will take some time but the staff is putting in work and building the relationships needed. A few wins will go a long way to landing recruits.
