that pic in your avatar (the actual photo, not the painting) was the background on my parent's computure for like 6 years... that 2002 bama game doesn't get the hype of other AU wins in the series, but it's always been one of my favorate games... the fact that we walked in there with no shot in hell and kicked them right in the teeth.

A big part of defensive recruiting is getting athletic guys with great frames and letting them develop into their natural positions.

What I said, isn't it? Yes, I think it is.

That he is. Looks as if he'll play a big part in getting Roc on the plains.

And since I haven't said it here yet, getting White was huge. He's our best high school QB recruit in a decade.

I could have sworn you said something similar but anyway that post won't sit well well the Johnson-ites. lol

I too think White will be our starter, after NM. JMO

ETA:

I take that back. Apparently Queen is the bees knees.

This is how I think they'll rank as AU QBs when they are all gone.

1. Marshall
2. White
3. Queen
4. Johnson
5. Wallace
6. Frazier

He might be. I am just glad we are getting some good talent and depth. Let their play decide the rest.

Agreed. It's easy to say he is our best since we know how all of the others have done besides JJ. But for all we know he could never see the field. I'm confident that after Marshall graduates, we'll have a good option out of JJ, White, and Queen

I'm high on Johnson too, but I can why others like White & Queen. Good problem to have, the future looks bright for us at QB.

whites a nice prospect and all, but Johnson is on another level, IMO. Physically/athletically, there's no comparison, really... White has better accuracy, but Johnson is no slouch in that department either.

and above all, IMO JJ is tailer-made for the Gus's offense.

I think some folks may be selling JJ a little short. He's got a funky motion, but he puts the ball where it needs to be and he's a fuggin big kid. He's gonna be 6'5" 240/250 by the time his second year rolls around. He's a fantastic athlete for someone his size.

But I completely agree with you. Instead of options like Trotter/Mosely/Frazier after Cam in 2011, I feel like the three above are actually all very capable QB's that can be pretty damn good.

IMO Johnson is absolutely the best QB prospect out of him, White and Queen. He has the size, strength, athleticism and arm. He's a more athletic Josh Freeman.

I'm just glad to be having this conversation. After watching the past couple of years, I see why other teams take a QB every year.

Either way (granted I do believe Johnson to be a solid recruit), we'll see after/if Johnson gets the starting position. I have nothing against Johnson, and I hope he is stellar. I just believe White is going to surprise most people.

I like the josh freeman comparison. Some people probably won't agree, but he reminds my of Jamarcus Russell coming out of High School... same type of frame... both were athletic QBs but not exactly pure 'dual-threat' QBs. Russell went to a state championship game as an 8th grader and had more hype/ higher rating, but by their senior years Johnson/Russell are similar prospects, IMO.

Coming out of High School
Jamarcus Russell: 6-5, 220
Jeremy Johnson: 6-6, 215

Agreed. We actually have competent, mentally clear recruits at the position now IMO.
