That would be his dad.

Evans tweeted some negative stuff about AU during the whole Dismukes/Foster deal.

Not saying he isn't coming to AU, but he does seem like he wants out and I can't really blame anyone for wanting to leave the nest.

I thinks he is overrated anyway and actually his best chance to make it would be in our "star" spot.

Dang, Sean needs to step it up. He can't even get his teammates interested in us.

Which is where we are recruiting him.

Perfect example some players are in wait mode, and rightfully should be.

Rashaan is very interested to see how Auburn and Tennessee look on the field this season," Alan said. "I think he wants to see that they are headed in the right direction and how far away they might be from being competitive programs in the SEC again.

Or to look at another way, why not be in on rebuilding a great program and get that sense of accomplishment, not to mention the undying adulation of the fanbase, rather than come into a program that's on autopilot and benefit from the pieces that were already in place before you came aboard?

We aren't actively recruiting him. Sean is putting in work on Roc and Travis Rudolph

Let's be honest. If you were a top LB recruit, would you think twice about coming to AU right now? I would want to see how our season plays out before giving my word.

I know but point still stands.

Ain't gettin him. He'll have pulled his weight, though, if he's even a smidge responsible for getting Roc.

Evans doesn't seem like a natural fit at the star... does anyone know if he has coverage skills?

Per AUC
-Sean White and Roc Thomas have hit it off and want to meet each other, good chance that will happen at the Wazzu game.
-White is also working on Rudolph and got positive responses. White knows it will not be easy to get him though. The staff likes the WRs we have committed and may only take 2.
-Auburn is in good shape with Blair and he is not a take for FSU yet.
-LSU insiders know Thornton is solid to Auburn.
-4* 2015 DE Michael Barnett camped well at Auburn recently and expected an offer. He is a bit disappointed he did not get it as he is interested in Auburn. Early thoughts are he goes out of State.
-Expect things to happen at CB although AU has not talked to Lamont Simmons in weeks.

I wish we'd just concentrate on bigger, tougher safties and athletic, running linebackers and let the "star" position sort itself out when the guys get on the field. I mean our first "star" is an undersized linebacker.

Very good. His cover skills, which people did not know much about before The Opening, was why 247 moved Exans into their top 100 overall a couple weeks ago.

How is Lamont Simmons a 2* on rivals? his offer list is legit.

Article the other day made it sound like he and Trickett were besties.

Things are going to happen with the position or with Simmons?

That does not mean he is a take for FSU though. Blair and Trickett have known each other a few years.

... they're not idiots... the star is as much a sales pitch right now as anything... if someone like Evans gets on campus and blows up into a 1st round DE, they aren't gonna play him at LB just b/c that's what they sold him on as a recruit.

A big part of defensive recruiting is getting athletic guys with great frames and letting them develop into their natural positions.

Yeah, assuming our defense is halfway decent this year I expect our star position to be like Bama's Jack LB, all the recruits will be getting that spiel (and seem to be already really).

Someone has told me the 2* at rivals usually means they have not evaluated the player yet. tifwiw
