Now that the world series is over, I figured I'd start a discussion on the upcoming Braves sanctions/punishment that should be announced by MLB shortly. I believe I heard that they will wait until after the Astros parade before announcing.

Free Agency starts today (well, the qualifying offers part does). Part of me has to think that MLB has already notified the Braves on what will happen, because it just seems to be bad business to give them so little time to prep for the offseason without knowing who is officially a part of their system or not. Additionally, I have to think that they've already made a decision on where to go with the GM search and are just waiting until everything is officially announced with the punishments before moving forward with the GM announcement.

Any predictions on how this whole thing will play out?

I think we'll be unable to work in the international sphere for a few seasons at least.

MLB looks at Arizona Fall League and declares any Brave prospect in the Top 10 of any stat category as a free agent immediately

Snitker takes the blame for it all an resigns.

Also, the Braves promise to never ever break the rules again.

All is forgiven, on to 2018!

If we lose Maitan It will make my 28-3 melt look like a walk in the park.

Yep. He's been the focal point of the rebuild to me. Put together a really good team and then add in an Andrew like talent to really take us where we want to be.

Even though the risk of the optics of it and the aftermath of a bidding war from the MLB perspective make no sense to me, I've got a really bad feeling Maitan is going to be used to make a point.

You're right, it makes no sense. You are going to now reward this kid for the Braves malfeasance by allowing him to keep the several million signing bonus plus whatever he gets on the FA market.

My argument is simple: "We have been punished enough. Have you seen the past few seasons? The defense rests."

Shouldnt be brutal. One of the most talented teams in the league the past 5 years and cant even win a postseason series, and they have one to two more years left before they are crap.

My roommate is a Washington fan so he's been dishing it out. I just keep reminding him of their record in the post season so it's evening out. I just want to know what the punishment is already.

Paid article, but Rosenthal's recent tweet seems to point to this being likely as well:

— Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred is still deciding the penalties the Atlanta Braves will receive for violating rules in the international market. Those penalties, however, will definitely include the loss of prospects the team signed out of Latin America, according to major-league sources.

Hart has resigned as of this weekend. Not terribly surprising.

Originally, he was going to be a "senior advisor". Now, he's been told to gtfo. Wonder if this is some deal making with MLB to get the punishment reduced.
