Bert is a sure fire upgrade. Just doesn't have the killer instinct to really get the job done.

Bert made a bowl in year two and won it. You see that happening any time soon with Chad? None of Bert’s teams were ever this bad, not even close.

Chad sucks, but he inherited a shite show. Compare the talent each started with

Bert and Chad are both utterly incompetent at anything beyond talking their way into coaching positions they’re completely undeserving of.

To act like Bert was ever a good hire does nothing but display ignorance. Wisconsin was laughing, and anyone who bothered to look closely could see it.
It was GOBN ineptitude in action.

And Bert didn’t? Are you kidding?

The talent was comparable, the difference is when Chad got here we had like 30 guys leave the team and his first class was 16 players, many of whom left the team as well.

To the OP: I guess the same justification you and other Chad humpers has just a few weeks ago.

“More time, get his players in, insert any other lame
arse excuse y’all had and the board probably still has”

It’s a total loser mentality and it was obvious last season. Will take the rest another just to figure it out.

Go back and reread, he inherited...

NFL QB
NFL WR
NFL TE
NFL OL
2 NFL DEs
NFL interior DL

How many NFL players did he leave behind?

Bert left nothing but a bunch of empty vodka bottles.

I hope that worthless frick spends our money on a liver transplant soon.

Have to think that HY not hiring Chad makes him more likely to cut bait.
Unfortunately I don't think this is the biggest factor. That insane buyout is. We've thrown a lot of money out the window lately and I'm not sure how eager the pocket books are to dish out more.

It’s not the buyout it’s misplaced pride.

Unwillingness to acknowledge yet another idiotic decision gone embarrassingly wrong.

They're losing several million dollars every home game just on ticket sales, not to mention concessions, merch, etc. If we wait until January 1st the buyout is $9 million, they'll make that up in a few games if they can hire a coach with a pulse.

I think it would cost more to keep him at this point.

You mean big time college programs win by doing things above the table? frick no, they don't.

It's a dirty business. We need to get in the dirt with the rest of them and try to win some GD games.

If you can't beat 'em join 'em.

I truly think most Hog fans would take a coach that would average 6.5 wins per season over a coach that would average 8.5 wins per year if it meant the 6.5 wins per year coach was a bible thumper that was squeaky clean.

It's maddening. I hope we hire a slimeball mother fricker that wins just to piss some of our stupid fans off.

If attendance is really that bad then that's a fair point. The games I've seen attendance didn't look that bad but I didn't pay much attention to it this past week.

Ok, man... is this in fact true? What I have been told, as I poste elsewhere. Season tix sales were on line with the past overall, a slight drop. Single game sales haven't been bad, it is the attendance that sucks.

The newest concession contracts has the UofA raking in money and the concession folks losing out because of lack of attendance. Evidently some folks doubled and even tripled what they paid to offer concessions...

I really do not know...

Yes we no longer pay bert. Him getting a job with the Pat's cancelled that.

Incorrect.

Bert decided he was going to take some time off from coaching which was a breach of the contract (he was required to actively look for a comparable paying coaching position).

Arkansas stopped paying him due to this breach and that made Bert go get the Patriot job.

I never said that, I just said I don't see it happening. We're losing money, so let's cheat...okay. That will just end up costing money. Is the opportunity cost really that great to spend money to lose money? Short term, sure, long term, bad idea (look at OM). The opportunity cost was not worth it. shite, they will probably end up keeping Luke. Would our fanbase be happy with that in 5-7 years? Maybe. shite, maybe the NCAA won't exist and we could have an advantage to paying players, but even then the university isn't going to compete top 20 paying players if we don't even spend money on a top 20 coach right now or before.
