Football, basketball,baseball.

For me football should NEVER go below 6 wins with the occasional 9 win regular season with a chance at 10 or 11 wins via bowl game every 3 or 4 years.

Basketball I have a little higher expectations. We should hardly ever miss the tourney and should be a sweet 16 team every 4 years or so.

Baseball has set the standard of Excellency as of right now and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed if we dont make it to Omaha every single year but I understand no-one cam do it every year. What's the rest of this board's opinion? Maybe the reason I melt so hard is because these expectations are just too unreasonable for lil ole Arkansas. I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think that's unreasonable either.

I guess so because that one conference championship in 20 years is more than football or basketball. We need to move to the Big 12 yesterday.

Football: we should be going to a bowl every year BARE MINIMUM
Basketball: we should be in the NCAA tournament EVERY YEAR
Baseball: NCAA Tournament apperance EVERY YEAR

These are minimum expectations. This is the par, barring major injuries to key players in which case exceptions can be made.

Expectations are situational, but if we're talking absolute bare minimum for each program:

Football: 7 wins and a bowl
Basketball: Make the damn tournament
Baseball: Regional as a 1-2 seed every year with frequent trips to Supers. The way the baseball program is trending, this may go up.

Football: A bowl game every year. I'll give you a 1st year exemption if the previous coach burned the program to the ground and pissed on the ashes but after that you had best start making some bowl games. Once every 5 years challenge for the West title.

Basketball: Make the Big Dance every year and get to the Sweet 16 every 4 years or so. I will, once again, grudgingly give you a 1st year exemption if the previous coach drove the program straight into the ground.

Baseball: Super Regional every year and a trip to the CWS every 4 years. Baseball being what it is, I'll forgive us running into a super hot team in their backyard in the Regionals every now and then.

At least 25 regular season wins.

This is a basketball state. Most kids are opting for playing basketball in high school rather than football especially in central Arkansas.

Anything below 25 regular season wins in a failure, imo

Basketball-Better than we're getting

Football-Better than we've had for the last 6 years

Baseball-Keep it up and it will happen

Track-Gonna be almost impossible to replicate McDonnell. That is called a solid foundation for success though.

So we should be ranked in the top 10 heading into the conference tournament every season?

My expectations for each major sport are that we are competitive (top 5 in the league every year) and respected by opponents.

Neither is true at the moment for any sport but baseball.

Since we have the resources to compete in each sport:

Football - no less than 6 wins(6 being the absolute worst), on average 7/8 wins a year, and 9-11 wins every three to four years. Just improve with the players your have, and I'm happy. Don't regress as a veteran team.

Basketball - we have too much tradition to be a bottom dweller in the SEC. So in rebuilding years I don't expect us to be top of the league, but somewhere in the middle. The seasons after that should be no worse than 4th in the league. Trips to the NCAA every year, except the rebuilding years, are expected.

Baseball - Omaha more times than not. We have the best facilities around. We continue to upgrade those facilities. We recruit at a high level.

Football, only less than 7 wins in a rebuilding year, or after a large amount of injuries... average 9 wins a year with a 10-12 win season every 4-5 years.

Basketball... NCAA tournament 2nd round consistently, with a sweet 16/Elite 8 every 4-5 years.

Baseball... College world series much more often than not.

Track and Field. JUST WIN THE DAMN THING. We missed on the correct coach for this.

Or women's Track and Field has done very well... just not quite good enough more often then not. We've had a string of second place finishes in the Nationals. Our men, however, have fallen off the pace dramatically.
