Vanover is a massive waste of an SEC scholarship

Refuses to jump to rebound.
Can't run the floor.
Constantly out of position.
Slower than anything.

He's a Sun Belt All Conference quality player.

He’s tall. He’s not a big.

There’s a difference... Muss knows this better than anyone watching.

Jaylin Williams should be a key to the 2nd half of this one.

I just thought to myself #10 is a better big than Vanover.

He reminds me of the kid from bald knob years ago. Tall, slow, from Arkansas, but he's white so everybody wants him to be good. My father in law is adamant that he's a good player and I guarantee you it's because he's white. He's always made comments about they need more white boys out there. Ridiculous.

Vanover never had the attitude to be a force in the paint. I don't think Muss intended him to be in that role.

You guys are expecting way too much out of him. He is an average player that is really tall. He will be a huge help against some smaller teams and a liability against others. He isn't going to turn into some top 10 pick.

He is what he is and can contribute size and depth for us for a few years. Muss will reel in his shooting after this game.

A little more want-to would really go a long way for him

Edit: I think the OP is an exaggeration but I get the frustration seeing the potential he has. Hr still is a major contributor for this team in many ways

I think most are expecting a Gafford, including me.

I’d settle for a Kingsley.

yeah was really hoping we would have this game in the bag. Winning on CBS, getting ranked... prior to getting crack whipped at Tenner would be nice.

But... We just do not have what it takes yet!

I'm expecting him to jump for a rebound. That's all. Nothing more.

It would help if he would quit shooting

You are going to get a Steven Hill with more offensive game and less defensive game.

He will get better over the next few years but he isn't going to be a Gafford ever. Maybe a Kingsley in a year or two.

His offensive game is so much better than Hill's, and his defensive game is so much worse. Very different players but maybe about the same value overall

Yep. This is exactly what I was saying. People need to stop thinking he is some huge game changer. He has value and will contribute but if we are leaning on him it's not good.

This. He’s a 7-3 shooter that can block shots. He’s not going to bang with the thick bodies in the league. He misses not having smith down low to push people around.

Until smith gets back may have to play Williams and vanover at the same time with Henderson and Jackson as subs. The 4 guard lineup isn’t working.

Hill was more valuable because of his defense and shot blocking ability. Vanover doesn't provide anything right now but he sure as hell needs to become more aggressive.

Vanover is not supposed to be "the guy" down low. He's in that role due to the Smith injury.

I think he has the potential to be a really good player for us. It does boggle my mind that he can't finish at the rim when he's 7'3
