I honestly feel like this is total crap. I feel like switching from a pro to a spread is much easier than switching from a spread to a pro.

Cole cube( total dumbass btw) said we will have more receivers, and less o linemen. He has no idea what our roster is made of. Infact morris has stated we need less WRs, and more Olinemen.

This team has had an identity crisis for 2 years (he was right about this), but that was because our recruiting footprint is built for this offense. Most of our players were in this offense in high school. If we struggle on offense it will be from poor qb play, and because kurt anderson destroyed our oline recruiting.

This team will be much better on offense, and people are over looking this. We will not be half as predictable in the red zone. We will score from the 2 yard line for the first time in 2 years. We actually should be good on defense this year. Infact chad may do better this year than he will next year, (which is a good thing considering this instate class). I am ready for this season to start. I am not saying there will not be growing pains early, but we are going to be much better than some are predicting. We may still only win 6 games, but we will look a ton better doing it.

I think the biggest concern here is QB play. We have no proven QB on campus so it’s a little bit of a crapshoot on how they’ll perform. I imagine folks would be looking at the season a little differently if we had Austin or Brandon coming back right now.

I’m not even worried about QB play. I feel out of all those guys (even freshman) can be at least serviceable. I also think Morris will pull the plug early if the starting QB can’t get it done. My biggest worry is OLINE.

My feeling is people are underestimating just how awful of a coach bielema was. We had a top 10 defense one year followed by a top 10 offense and he managed 15 total wins in 28 games. He was BAD. I think Morris will be able to manufacture points, we probably won't be as good this year as we will in the future but we will still score on people and I think the defense has a chance to be really good. With this schedule as easy as it is I feel like 7 or 8 regular season wins is entirely possible

Yes.
IMO a ridiculous percentage of fans bought into the idea that Bert was somehow responsible for the results at Wisconsin. Anyone with a brain and 10 minutes to analyze Wisconsin's program could see Barry Alvarez has orchestrated everything for that football program both as a coach and as an AD.
Tardville was rife with people quick to attack anyone trying to point this out... despite the obvious fact that NO UW FANS WERE SORRY TO SEE THE FATASS GO.

As whackjob as he was, Nutt was 5x the football coach Bert will ever be.

Long and Bert put the Arkansas football program into a spin cycle of wallowing misery that the new crew will have to work their way out of.

As for changing the offensive philosophy? A minor point compared to the overhaul of the underlying mindset the players have adopted in recent years.

I doubt Morris will be falling asleep during film sessions.

Bert and Danny ford have parallel cosching careers at arkansas. Hopefully morris has a 1998 season this year, amd has his version of Dmac in burks this year in recruiting.

we need to find a qb and online needs to be taught how not to get their shite pushed in every play. if we do that it'll have more affect than any scheme change

I expect there to be quite a few mistakes early in the season. It will take folks a bit of time to get up to game speed with the new system even with Fall Training Camp. That having been said, its not like we were perfect early in the season the last few years either. We have three winnable games to iron things out before we go on the road against Auburn.

That having been said, as folks have been saying in this thread, the reason myself and others like me are tempering our optimism for this season is that Bert put us in the toilet when it comes to our O-Line. I could see a 5 win season because while we might be able to scrape together a decent starting O-Line if anyone gets injured we might be pulling people out of the stands.

I think we get 6 wins and possibly more if the injury bug doesn't bite us. Ford left Nutt a team capable of competing for an SEC championship. Bert left Chad a team with some real talent, but some major holes on the roster.

This. We have no depth there to withstand any injuries and our tackles got abused several times in the Spring game.

I think Froholdt, Gibson and Wallace will be fine but worried about LT and C. The good thing is I don’t think we’ll face as many elite DEs this year like we have the past few years with Myles Garrett, Carl Lawson, etc.

My biggest concern is the defense. Period.

Offense hasn't been inept ...just mediocre and inconsistent. Defense has been laughable.

Never been less sad to see a coaching staff leave...and I still think Bielema was a good hire on the day we hired him. What happened to him personally in FYV is a mystery.

He was stubborn is the my guess. Even when it became evident what he was doing was not working he either refused to make changes or did so in the most half assed way humanly possible.

As an example, we went hurry up in a couple of games last year and did so effectively. Rather then commit to the change Bielema went back to his ball control style, even with Enos begging him to go more up tempo.

Or when he promised we were going to play more press coverage. We did it a handful of times in our opening games and then went back to giving our ten yard cushions on third and 3.

We're going to suck because we have minimal playmakers and shitty OL and unproven QB situation.

We might. We will find out in a month or so. If we suck... well we knew this was going to be a major rebuild. I think we have a shot at a bowl game because, for once, our schedule actually isn't actively working against us.

No one would have said that before the start of the 98 season. The razorbacks were picked to finish last in the SEC west in 98

Danny Ford begged for another year. He knew it was talented.

It is with a good QB. I don't feel like we have one to fit this system.
