We have 4 guys we can't afford to lose. KJ, Catalon or the 2 linebackers. Assuming they all make it through the season 7 wins or less would be disappointing. A 6-6/7-5 type year with this roster would be very Bert like.

Nah, Bert like with this schedule would be winning 3 or 4 games

setting the floor of acceptable at 6 doesn't seem ridiculous.
then you have a loser mentality. Let’s just look at our schedule and play the percentages shall we.

Cincy-should win imo
SCAR- should win
Missouri state- win
TAMU- I give us a 40% shot. Could go up if king look bad the first few weeks. They’ve got a lot of talent but we beat them this past year with a worse team and that recruiting class they brought in had lots of high level lineman but most great lineman still aren’t ready to contribute by week 4 or their true freshman season
Bama- 15/20% chance we win. Higher than 0 so I’ll take it.
Miss state- 45% chance we win. Game is not in an ideal spot on our schedule, at their place, and they are going to surprise some people this year. Wouldn’t be shocked if we win but am not expecting to win either really.
BYU- win, they have to go to notre dame the week before, will be beat up and we have more talent this will be a game we win by double digit and shock people nationally similar to Texas last year.
Auburn- win we get them after our bye and after the way we’ve played against them the past 2 seasons I guarantee Pittman is hungry for them.
Liberty- win freeze is a good coach but he lost Willis and won’t be nearly as formidable this year
Lsu- win. We get them at our place, their secondary isn’t as good as it’s been in the past, and I’m just not sold on Brian Kelly having those guys rolling year 1.
Ole miss- another 50/50 game but this one’s at our place, late in the year I think we get the win although I’d wish we got them early on before kiffin has time to work out kinks with his new qb.
Missouri-win drinkwits is over his head and will be looking for a job in the not so distant future.

So with all that being said realistically we are looking at 8-4/7-5 if things don’t go our way we would have to drop a game we shouldn’t to even go 6-6.
9-3/10-2 is very much on the table this year and if we want to have a double digit win season now is the time to do it. If we go 6-6 this year I don’t know if I’d expect a bowl game next season because we likely Take a step back from where we are now regardless. This is our season it’s okay to have some decent expectations

As it *appears* on paper at least, this team is a little better than last year's. I think anything below 8 regular season wins would be disappointing. I am cautiously optomistic for better though.

Yeah, always a upper when we win, and a downer when we lose.

Why are some of you so upset about some not being as optimistic about winning 9-10 games?

- Still thin and overall unproven on the DL
- Paper thin at LB depth
- WRs are mostly unproven and all we know is coach speak at this point.

Stringing together winning seasons is a step in the right direction for Pittman from where Arkansas was just 3 years ago. Attacking fans/posters because they aren’t sold on the things listed above is pretty much being a straight homer.

This board overall is pretty level headed in regards to expectations in most all sports. This team is still comprised of a lot of guys who went and laid an egg last season at home to Auburn. Inched out wins over State and LSU, two of the poorer teams in the league last year.

As Pate put it on his show recently…Arkansas ceiling is 11-1, floor 6-6, and his pick is 9-3. 6-6 isn’t unrealistic, as is 9-3 not being unrealistic.

This years schedule is quite a bit tougher on paper before the season starts than last year. Two ranked OOC opponents with one being on the road in the middle of the road SEC schedule before a bye week. On the road at State is going to be tough. We haven’t won on the Plains in years and they’ve had our number for a while.

It’s reasonable for folks to say anywhere from 6-9 wins. That’s the likely range this team falls in depending on injuries. There will be injuries…always are.

Some of you seem to have to much pint up frustration in this thread and the season hasn’t even started.

Some people think you're not a true fan unless you think they're going 12-0 every year

The question is about being happy. I’m happy when they win and bummed when they lose.

I expect about 9-3, but realize 7-5 could happen.

Winning is great, but playing hard and representing…which I’m sure we will do now (after years of knowing we wouldn’t) makes me happy.

I’m not upset about some not being optimistic we win 10 games. I’m saying it’s dumb to say you’d be happy with 6 wins. Can a 6 win season happen this year? absolutely, but that’s not something I’d be “fine” with because if we only win 6 games this year we probably won’t make a bowl next year. We’ve got one of the top offensive lines in the sec this year, one of the top qbs, most of our running back production, depth and talent in the secondary and proven front end talent at linebacker albeit not much depth behind them. You’d better hope we win more than 6 games this year because regardless of what we do this year next year will be a rebuilding year and we will most likely take a step back. Are their holes on this team? Absolutely but there’s always going to be holes. If there wasn’t we’d be in the alabama/Georgia conversation

We won 9 games last year and we lost 1 WR and a few 17 year 2 star walk on linebackers.

Schedule was harder with all the tough teams on the road.

We should win 8 games pretty easily.

Don't understand why ya'll are cautious of cincy and BYU. Those should be marked as wins.

It's like ya'll are forgetting how physical this team can be all of the sudden. They will control the ball and punish cincy and BYU.

Schedule is abysmal. Even if you beat some teams you “shouldn’t” beat, you can easily drop a game to a team that is good that you “shouldn’t” lose.

For instance, I think we beat Ole Miss in a revenge game from last year but Miss St gets us for the same reason.

I say we go 8-4. 7-5 or 9-3 wouldn’t surprise me. Anything outside of that would surprise me

Yea, I'm with you.

Just saying there's no reason not to be optimistic. We may shite the bed, who knows but if we're basing it off last season, we should finish stronger.

I realize Ped State had players out but we absolutely thumped them without Burks.

All things considered I think 6-6 would demonstrate regression, 7-5 would be stagnation and 8-4 would be continued improvement in the program. 9-3 would be a major step forward.

I would think it depends on how you get to 6-6 or 7-5. Injuries, OT losses, etc.

Well key injuries or multiple injuries at one spot are obvious caveats for any team not named alabama and maybe Ohio state or Georgia. I mean just about any team that loses their starting qb is going to lose games they shouldn’t. I don’t think that’s stuff you should think about when making preseason predictions. Just judge how you think your team will do based on the total talent you have available

I've noticed KJ's still got the same tendency to have the ball sail high on him in this year's practice clips as he did last year. I hope that stays in the practice clips and doesn't make its way onto the field on gameday.

Was really hoping this concern wouldn't be relevant so early.
