Do we have any reason to believe there is any interest from either side on Kiffin?

Or is that just message board speculation and hope?

Check on Gundy, just to see.

I’m seriously hoping we did or are in the process of doing this.

He’s obviously listening. I’m wondering if he declined the Tennessee job because he was reticent to jump into a shitshow as opposed to purely wanting to stay at OSU.

The Vol coaching search has reached levels of toxicity that would make a lot of coaches have second thoughts. They'll land someone eventually, but if you were a top tier coach would you step into that mess?

I just don't see him spurning his alma mater.

Think about that, in your own stomach.

Only real POS type guys can do something like that. See Gus.

Gundy's definitely not coming since it's obvious our first target was Malzahn. He's too proven of a coach to be anyone's second option.

I would be happy with Norvell or Morris. I'm not a big fan of Venables or Strong. I just have a feeling...no sauces, that it's going to be Morris. Jerry is high on him, and we are sort of needing some big $ soon to pay for all of these buyouts etc.

If we hire Tim fricking Horton I am done.

Seriously, I won't go to another game and I won't be the only one.

That will be a program killer.

I feel like Morris is entirely too much of a gamble. His best year as a HC is 7-5, 14-22 total. Yes, he's improving a bad situation, but hiring a guy with that record and 3 years experience as a HC is just a head scratcher for a sec west program.

You could say a lot of the same about experience for Norvell, but at least he's had some success as an HC over his short tenure.

I think people are real quick to discredit how important Morris was to the Clemson resurgence. He was the mastermind of that offense. SMU was a total cluster when he got there. I'm evidently in the minority.... but I'd be totally ok with Morris.
my choices would be
1. Norvell
2. Lane
3. Morris
.....beyond that I get into a real confusing place that could require the use of prescription drugs.

I think it ends up being Norvell with the sleeper/surprise hire being Strong. I would love to see Kiffin get a shot but believe one of the biggest hold ups was from Jerry and his crew from shite that went down years ago in NFL. Morris is probably the(fall back) option for the GOBN if something ruled the other two out. Switzer, and I heard even Bob Stoops both went to bat for Leach and didn't seem to get much traction. He should've been 2nd choice after Lane IMO.

I would've really liked to see Gundy as a higher-up option. We had some Patterson chatter last time, not sure what his contract looks like, but that's another I'd consider a homerun hire that it doesn't seem we made an effort to get.

Yeah, I recall Patterson being pretty well locked down these days.

In order... of those most likely I want

Kiffen
Norvell
Morris
Vanables

But what if it is someone out of left field. I am sure Stoops would never coach again.. NO LES!, Gundy,

I think it is Norvell. He wasn't available for the Liberty Bowl presser, his AD said "No comment" regarding has anyone contacted asking to speak to him, etc.

I think the Schiano thing, the revolving door of candidates saying no, and Fulmer pulling a Brutus on Currie has probably scared away any decent candidate.

If they hire Les Miles, I’m not sure if my body could take the sheer amount of popcorn.

Why do I still have a feeling we're in for a surprise? A mystery man. Someone we've never, or barely, thought of and discussed.

Because that’s exactly what happened last time

They issued a statement saying that he had a pre-planned recruiting trip, and that he was in the air on a plane at the time of the call.

That happens, we hire Norvell and Aub loses their bowl would be the holy trinity as far as I'm concerned.
