The rumor is he told them to take the buyout and invest it in better players, HY, the board and boosters all agreed.

When happens if that fails? What other conditions are put on that? Cody Kennedy being gone?

When you’re losing to BYU and Mississippi State, and your team looks unmotivated and inept, it’s not a talent issue.

Talk about no accountability for piss poor coaching. Blame it on the talent you recruited in your 4th year? GTFO.

Something drastic happened to completely flip this situation. Sam has made probably 1/3 of his career earnings in the last two years and if he wants to retire here doing the whole "gimme my money" act won't work out well for him.

Sam cutting a deal makes the most sense given the press conference stuff and 180 in tone during the last week.
I could get behind it. Would take some of the Sexton sting off his deal and give us a massive portal haul.

This Mizzou game is critical in getting some momentum going into the offseason. Massively increased NIL next season would also be a giant carrot to dangle in front of current players for motivation this week.

I don't think that is what he's saying.

Pretty sure he's saying Sam called their bluff and said "rather than firing me and paying my buyout, why don't you invest in better players because that was actually the problem this year".

He should be recruiting much better if he is capable of selling that shite to upset boosters. I think they struck some kind of deal with his contract for more investment.

Are you saying Pittman is taking a pay cut to stay? I'd believe that when I see it.

If thats what happened Sam is much smarter than I thought. He still gets his 5mm/year for another year or two PLUS a buyout whenever that happens.

Great so we can ruin some rala top tier kids future NFL potential payday? If you want to develop as an athlete and player why would you come here? Who have we coached up the last couple years from nobody to NFL quality?

Only thing that makes sense in my opinion. He knows he didn't earn his money this year. Fits in line with who he claimed to be when he took the job and will sell well to the fanbase and boosters.

It's also possible that we are run by absolute retards with no competence or direction. We'll find out soon.

That’s how I heard it went down.

Those are all rumors I heard though.

But there had to be some concessions and stipulations.

I would be willing to wager, we get an OC that could be a head coach within a year or two, his buyout lowers, and Kennedy is gone.

Then we get a bunch of blue chip linemen to flip or something.

If they gave Sam 2.5 mil to go hire a legit creative OC and 15 mil to go buy up the portal and keep our good talent around I'm fine with it. It's their money. They can pay again to buy him out next year if it doesn't work.

What do you think happens? We just spend the money and hope all is well next year?

If sam took a significant pay cut to improve NIL and get better coaches, that would truly be an unprecedented move. I don't see it happening. Nobody is taking money out of their families hands because they love the helmet.

Way more likely that your second scenario of being run by retards is true.

Did he not literally just got a fair amount of money last off season for assistants?

And was paying Briles a high salary for an OC the year before.

Odom was extremely well paid.

Delusions to think somehow things are going to be different next year.

Man, I hope the rumors of us suddenly finding all this money for NIL are true. But my gut tells me it's lip service from inside the program to get the heat off their collective asses going into the offseason and to avoid a huge drop in season tickets. And the local media will run with it.

We promote Guiton under the guise of "the players love him and want to play for him...wait until he has a whole offseason to install his offense!". Kennedy gets reassigned and we hire some new ineffective OL coach Pittman brings in to be his beer drinking buddy. And then we look for a new head coach next offseason and restart the cycle.

I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure I'll be predicting a 7 or 8 win season by August

I don’t think you’ve understood who I am. I’ve wanted Sam gone since the 9 win season. I saw the coin flip game wins, the losing games you should win, and not going for the kill shot when you’ve had it and losing.

I want him gone, but something I’ve grasped that you haven’t is that he will be back, and for that to have happened there must have been concessions on his part.
