But he was too unproven, only taking a dogshit program and team in 1 year and making them great.

And of course, we had the right man for the job. No need to worry!

Why it would have been lunacy I tell ya, to hire ole Beard, lunacy!

How long do you think he would have stayed once the tech job opened up? 2 weeks? Maybe 9 days?

are you mentally fricking retarded? The texas tech red raiders have never been any good at basketball. Literally all of their success is from him fricking mike fans. Yeah he may not leave now that hes turned them into a fricking contender and has passed mike by but thay doesmt mean oh well gotta keep mike now yes better than any one else we could get meanwhile another hungry young coach at a small school like beard was is waiting out there.

No, we had just gone to the tournament as a 5 seed so we weren't about to fire our coach. Your delusion has caused you to misremember facts.

Complete garbage. Just an awful take devoid of facts, reason, or even the slightest understanding of the situation.

Otzelberger at S. Dak St and wes miller at unc Greensboro are interesting too. Miller might be getting groomed for taking over UNC tho.

They are definitely in my top 5 as well. I give Forbes a little edge because he does have a connection to the state and is familiar with the Southeast. It feels like Otzelberger is waiting for a big 10 job to open up. He has always been around that area. Agreed on Miller and I would think he wants to hang around that area till it does.

Wes and Steve have had a nice little battle back and forth in the Southern Conference. They are 4-4 against each other. Steve has only made the tournament once in his first three years but both of the the years he missed, he was in the conference championship game.

I have known about him but didn't know he went to Southern Arkansas till this year. His teams generally play very good defense and force turnovers. Only has coached D1 for 3 full years which could be a little concerning but I like what he has done so far and he isn't a young guy. Southern is a good conference this year as well. Four very solid teams are going to be competing for that title.

Yeah good point, sometimes is hard to really get a read on how well coaches can recruit when they are at mid-majors.

He has worked under Billy Gillispie at A&M. Really good coach that had off the court issues and was never meant to coach a blue blood. He was also under Pearl at Tennessee and Marshall at Wichita State. I really like him even more after considering all of that. Means he has done a lot of recruiting in Texas, Tennessee, Kansas and all those surrounding states. In terms of mid-major coaches, he is clearly at the top for me this year.
