8/10

We didn't have the pitching

We had the #1 SOS. Arguing about draws is a waste of time. If you're the best, the draw doesn't matter.

NCST deserved to win that Super, they were the better team over 27 innings.

This is true. However, we did get jobbed on our #2 and #4 seeds. We should've opened against Southern not NJIT. Regionality is a weak excuse

This. Our bats shite the bed. The fault for the loss is directly in our lineups mirror.

Yep. Our best hitters picked a very bad time to slump and you just can't overcome that against good teams.

Pallette will not need TJ as there was no tear per DVH. He said Pallette will begin throwing in few weeks. This is great news. He could be our Friday night starter.

Also, LHP Nick Griffin should be ready by Fall Ball. He was a top 100 player in last year's class.

DVH also said there's a pretty good likelihood of Zeb and Noland returning as it has been speculated. The same goes for Goodheart and Slavens.

Pitching should be strong next year if Wiggins can emerge and take one of the weekend starting roles.

Goodheart and Slavens returning would be big news. I have a slight concern at CF defensively, but bats should not be an issue. I hope to see us hit better for average next season overall.

I guess there's little to no chance that Moore and Battles returns next year?

Moore will be back. He'll be draft eligible next year.

Goodheart and Slavens

For sure. As frustrating as both were down the stretch, they're still huge assets in the lineup, especially with another year of experience.

If 2 more pitchers can step up, next years team sets up really nicely honestly and feels stronger on paper than this year's final product.

Big IF on the pitching though. Hobbs has got to prove his worth.

Also agree on the CF question mark, we've been spoiled with Benny, Fletcher and Franklin all back to back.

Who is slated to take over?

Speed wise I’d say Webb, but there are arm strength concerns and the obvious plate production concern. My money would be on Wallace.

I think Bates may have a shot there? I’d almost think OF looks like Bates-LF, Wallace-CF, and Goodheart-RF. Welch as DH. JUCO Wilkerson will also possibly factor in here.

May have to put Gregory in the mix as well…when thinking of lead off hitters he is really the only one that comes to mind.

Also I think the infield goes…

3B-Turner
SS- Moore
2B- ???Nesbit/Varnado
1B- Slavens
C- Leach

Turner May be a contender for lead off?

Wilkerson will likely take one of corner OF slots. He and Wallace will both be out there. Webb is nice defensively but has a noodle arm. Think McCants from Ole Miss.

Goodheart will likely stay at DH. They've got to try to find a position for Welch. His bat is way too good to not an every day guy. I like him better at DH moreso than Goodheart if we had no choice. Matt is too streaky.

Supposedly, Welch will get a shot at 1B, but I don't know what that means for Slavens, who actually was not that bad there.
