cause they're irrationally upset over a season that wasn't so bad.
because they believe the world owes us sweet 16s. and don't understand why we hired mike and why it needs to not end on bad terms suddenly after he's brought us more success than we've seen in a decade

I'm reserved but let's not act like their points don't have Merritt. I mean just because he sucks less then pelphrey and heath doesn't mean he's the answer. Let's use this as an example: if morris stays for 7 seasons and goes 7-6 3 times 8-5 3 times and 9-4 once with with this upcoming class would you not be ready to move on? I mean it would've been better than bielema but that's still not meeting expectation in my mind

Change assistants
Something has to change. None of the coaches seemed to be able to light a fire under the team when they really needed it. Somebody has to be the hardass. I realize I only see a small sample of what the coaches do, but I never see one crawl a players butt for bad defense or stupid turnovers.

I don't think must most of us would be against a change, some of us just don't feel like a change at the top is an absolute must. I do however feel like some type of change is required.

so much this.
losing to Butler isnt an embarrassment that so many here seem to think. they're a strong team and program.
that said, im off the Mike train mainly because i think we shouldnt have been in the position to play a dangerous team that early. the midseason slump really broke me.
2 longstanding issues come to mind: our man D has always been pretty bad, with guards ill equipped to play it, from madden to bell to dusty to macon. macon and barford were the best guard defenders Mikes had, and they werent good enough. and, especially this year, our zone d bailed us out numerous times only to be abandoned. (i get wanting to speed up the game, but i really dislike how rigid MA is to his philosophy which, frankly, he hasnt been able to get the players to really run.)
and the fact that Coty Clark was the last really effective 4 we've had is appalling. this position is so important and we've been hamstrung by lackluster players here for a long time, from recruiting whiffs and last minute panic schollys.
but no way do i think firing Mike after this season would be a smart thing to do. its a shame, because a better draw and a couple wins would really smooth over whats going to be a rough season next year. but i have a feeling fan apathy will be back in a big way next season if they struggle early, and can see a "mutual parting of ways" this time next year.

Halfcourt offense is still trash and they can't communicate their defensive coverages to prevent the weakside bucket.

Not in the first half they weren't. Avery still off to a better start than Mike.

Just looking at the body of work objectively...
I like Mike as a person, but as a coach I haven't seen the return on investment we should have over 7 years.
If it were up to me, I would be looking at a different investment.

It's plausible. I mean, he was a staunch Bielema apologist after all, so I guess he was sad to see the auto win come off their schedule.

Good thing the game doesn't end at the half.
It's not how you start. It's about how you finish.
