Briles should be gone, I imagine Odom will be too, if he wants to be a HC he needs to strike now and I think he knows it.

Sam needs to figure out what kind of team he wants, specifically offensively. He talks about playing bully ball and out toughing opponents but our OL got bullied way too many times this year. If that’s the identity you want then find players and an OC will make that happen. If you want to be a spread team then fine but commit to it. Seemed too often we tried to be a “bully ball” team but playcalling was more finesse big 12 team like. Way too many 3 and outs and Briles is a terrible play scripter at the beginning of games.

He was pretty shitty closing games there at the end as well.

Just don’t really think he has much of a “scheme” that attacks the actual defense. Seems like it’s mostly throwing darts where every now and then he hits a bullseye. Generally because we have some pretty badass offensive weapons.

I said this about Nutt several times in his career, Junior. Nutt’s problem was staying out of their way and letting them do their job.

At least Pittman doesn't have a built in Murray state mafia to keep pulling from on repeat....he also seems almost too out of the way as opposed to butts constant meddling.

I just don’t believe the hate on briles. I think a large part of our offensive ineptitude should be laid at the feet of Kennedy. This offensive line was atrocious the 2nd half of the year. Liberty on the offensive line was absolutely worked, outside of the ole miss who looked like they had less enthusiasm to be there than we did.

Funny you say this.

After the Chaggy debacle I stated on a few occasions that I’d be happy if we rehired Nutt. I Just wanted to get back to a level of respectability where we felt like there was a chance to win every game, all the while knowing that there would be games that were unexplainable losses.

Well, I didn’t expect three of them in one season.

Seriously. How many times was Luke Jones put on his arse the last few games in pass protection? Hard to have a consistent offense with that happening.

I don’t think Briles is a bad OC but he just can’t put a full game together consistently. Slow starts and bad finishes killed us this year, someone has to be the fall guy unfortunately and a position coach isn’t enough by this point.

I can’t stress how important a good line coach is. Is briles the worlds best OC? No, but he is a top 15 OC in the country. You may not like that answer but it’s reality. Idk if we should be running him off. Kennedy is a fat sack of shite that isn’t worth anything imo

I already said Kennedy can kick rocks but Briles sucked yesterday. If your OL is getting shoved around get KJ moving on roll outs don’t just keep calling 3 step drop pass plays over and over. If KJ wasn’t such a beast Mizzou could’ve had 10 sacks yesterday but we kept doing the same pass play calls. Maddening.

We don't have a QB that can execute his offense. That's on him though. Treylon made up for a lot of errant passes last year, but it still seems as if his passing has regressed. In his defense, it's hard to get into a rhythm on your arse constantly with a bunch of drops thrown in. My biggest issue is that KJ is best off play action and we abandoned the run too soon many times or got ourselves into obvious passing situations due to penalties and stupid arse play calling on 1st and 2nd down.

Nevermind...he's a bad OC. Needs to be able to adapt offense to talent his has if he can't recruit and develop what he needs.

I think it’s overly complex from what it needs to be.

As mentioned before, quit relying on a shitty line sitting in the pocket and coach WRs to improvise when KJ gets out of the pocket.

It was kind of amazing how little we made happen passing when KJ moved out of the pocket this year.

Not being a sunshine pumper but we didn’t have good injury luck and our schedule didn’t have the usual 2-3 cupcakes that we could coast against and rest some guys. We had a dogfight every week and this roster didn’t have the depth to withstand it.

I think there is a lot of truth to this. I'd like for once us not to have a strength of schedule in the top 10.

I counted one time he had KJ roll out and it was a 10 yard completion. I member bc I was shocked it took until the second half to do it

Yup this was the low end of my range of expectations on the seasons hard to predict losing the secondary for several games and then losing KJ for several others.... Really bad timing.

We could have coasted and rested guys against Missouri State and Liberty but the problem is our players and coaches suck shite.

Sam can't prepare his teams for opponents that are inferior to them. That liberty game which I was in attendance was the laziest effort I have seen from the offense in awhile.

Those two have competent head coaches and that alone makes them not a cupcake. Go look at Ole Miss or Mizz OOC, that’s what we need.

When did we schedule them though? Was it before they hired Petrino and Freeze? That'd be our luck.

I thought the Missouri State game would've been a wake up call. I was wrong. Sam ain't him.
