Explain to me how Vic Koening is “a much better coordinator” than Chavis. Yes he has a good defense this year but I don’t see how you can look at his resume and say he’s better than Chavis

Keonning had the #6 defense by scoring efficiency.... With Troy talent... Chavis had #60 with top 10 talent.. Chiefs better days are behind him... With better talent.

To win at Arkansas you must have some type of exotic scheme to offset the talent gap... Chavis runs a bland 4-3 that has relied on elite talent for the last 15 yrs

I'm actually on 247 checking it out now. As Ed said, nothing else has came out of this rumor today.

18 class is at #15 (no 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Offense)

17 class was #13 (no 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Defense)

16 class was #18 (no 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Defense)

15 class was #11 (3 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Defense)

14 class was #5 (3 5* recruits) (All 3 were Offense)

13 class was #9 (1 5* recruits) (Top recruit was
Offense)

12 class was #16 (2 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Offense)

11 class was #34 (0 5* recruits) (Top recruit was Mike Evans and class had Heisman Winner Johnny Manziel

Ironically, most of their classes are full of kids from Texas. That place we haven't had success recruiting. The place our new Head Coach wants to get most of his classes from and has connections.

Their magical team that lead to those top classes were 3* Johnny Football and 3* Mike Evans.

Again, I'm not sticking up for Chavis. Not a fan of his anyways.

Troy is going against Sun Belt talent outside of their games against LSU and Boise State. Not really a fair comparison, although he did a great job this year and last year. Chavis' resume is still more impressive though.

Yes Chavis has benefitted from talent, but at the same time we've seen coaches take similar levels of talent and produce complete shite.

We will have a bunch of very young, energetic coaches here... Wouldn't help to have an older, SEC experienced coach among them as well.. right?

We need at least some staff members with SEC experience.

I don't know, maybe it's just a philosophy thing for me. All the victories in my life have came as a direct result of me out-working the people I was competing with. Chavis doesn't strike me as a person with the will or desire to out-work anyone.

Dont disagree with you. And question for you, where can I get that patch that is in your picture?

I've seen them for sale on Amazon I think, when searching for the image. I have a friend with an authentic one from Vietnam, that's where I saw it first.

Is there anyone else being considered for the position?

Nice! Ill check it out! Getting ready to find a shadow box for my patches I wore throughout my time with my units (USMC). Could throw that one in there for the 3 years i spent recruiting in Arkansas. NG unit correct?

I don't know. I thought he was regular Army. Said his huey had rocket pods on each side, and a .50 hanging out the door. Said they wrecked shite.

Thats what skids do! I read some and think it was an active army unit, but haven't spent much time reading the article I found.

I will probably be sending some of the cool pictures off of google to have my wife put them on canvass. I love the Razorbacks and love my skids!

For the record, I would have been ok with Chavis staying at A&M to see how he did under Fisher

If y’all got him, I’m not thinking it’s a bad get

Literally the one single DC that would have made me go sour over this hire. 3rd and Chavis no want.

If Morris believes Chavis is the man for the job, all we can do is hope that he is right, and support the decision. I would think he is wrong, but I'm not going to go sour over the whole coaching change. Our defense can't get that much worse. I just don't think Chavis will ever be the guy to get us where we need to be, and I was hoping for much better, given the money that must be available.

My question is, why has it not happened yet if it's truly Chavis? Seems like with recruiting going on they would be pulling the trigger. Is there a reason to wait if it is him? The fact that it hasn't already happened makes me question if it's actually Chavis.

Yeah, I started the "The longer it takes to name a DC" thread. I would think they would at least announce, even if the guy is coaching a bowl game. If it's a playoff bowl game, I could understand.

I've heard by all indications that Chavis is by NO means a done deal or even THE guy yet, the report/rumor was unsubstantiated and premature. He's definitely getting heavy (pun intended) consideration but I think the PTB have the same reservations most of us do.

I don't know if this was Schaap jumping the gun trying to scoop everyone or an intentional Schiano-style name float to see how the general public would react but neither would surprise me.

I thought it was Trey Schaap that tweeted initially?
