I'm not sure how it can really be seen another way. 3 and a half quarters showed this IMO. Not saying CSU doesn't have talent but it was clear to me which team was more talented. It absolutely felt like play calling was the biggest issue. An extra 1st down in that 2nd half might have been the difference.

I've calmed down quite a bit, and obviously firing a 1st year head coach is essentially a death sentence for your program, but he didnt show me anything in that game that gave me hope for the future. That's what bothers me. My optimism is gone after 2 games. I'm convinced we are going to be in the same boat again in 3 years.
Playcalling: no improvement.
Mental toughness: no improvement.
Halftime adjustments: no improvement.
Fitting scheme to personnel: nope.
These were some of the biggest issues under Bielema and I dont see any signs they will improve. AggyChad is in way over his head and I'm worried we just mortgaged the next 3-4 seasons to give him a shot.

The one thing I will say in Morris' defense. He talked about fixing the run game. I know CSU isn't close the an SEC opponent but it was clear an effort was made in that department for a large majority of the game. I hoping that Morris will look at this game and realize the mistakes that were made in play calling and at least try to fix some of the issues.
That being said, this is probably the most pessimistic I have been this early into the season with a new coach.

Agreed for the most part, needed to win all of our OOC games.

If he had continued that line of thinking on 4th and 1 we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Yes and I said as much in my response but I'm not going to ignore everything else.

O line... better

TE... even, or better

Drewbie… you are right on the TE....
Forgot about that.
Oline, we seem to be as good, if not better at the run protection and some in the pass.
But, we are a better team top to bottom IMHO, in Rockees and several others. YOU? why do you truly think that

quote:Top to bottom doesn't matter. There are positions that impact the game more than others. QB is one of the largest, if not the single most impactful. That also happens to be one of our biggest weaknesses as a team. Not all deficiencies are created equal. Just because our D-Line is better than theirs doesn't mean us having a glorified high school QB is going to be any less prevalent in the game when their QB can throw darts. I understand being upset about playcalling. That's more than justified, but saying that we're head and shoulders put together better than Colorado State as a football team isn't true. The gap in talent between us and them is much smaller than most would like to think, as we saw on the field. That isn't solely on Chad.
YOU? why do you truly think that
My whole point is to put off the witch hunt until the point that if Chad is having to battle a talent deficiency every week in the SEC, it's his own fault. Putting this team's garbage loser mentality on him isn't a good look.

Give it time, after the loss to UNT this weekend, the SEC blow outs will continue until moral improves.

He looked lost and the playcalling and game management appeared to be someone out of their depth. His staff is not SEC caliber.

He said before the staff coached a single SEC game

Good plays can fail with bad players. I don't see the harm in actually placing the blame on lack of talent. It's very evident we lack talent. I see a lot of people criticizing the playcalling but no one criticizing why our WR's couldn't get separation against Colorado fricking State.

Agreed, except the Oline….thus far.
But, even with such a higher rated class than we have had in many years, we are still 7th in the SEC West. And unlike Petrino, I have seen nothing to show me that Chad has the coaching prowess to take the lowest rated class in the SEC West and win with it.
We were up 27-9 bro. I still cant imagine that collapse. But it was REAL!
