He and Hunter both fought the nil

quote:I simply do not agree with this. NIL is the #1 factor in roster shuffles on a yearly basis. Most of the players that aren't chasing the most money possible are that way because their talent doesn't afford them that luxury.
NIL has little to do with recruiting and development of players who would be apt to staying with the program.

This alone should have gotten him canned.

Yes but that doesn't help solve the issues.

Listening to the preseason interviews, it's sounds like Silverfield sold Hunter on he could fix the NIL issues by sourcing new streams as well as revenue.
He had a role in the naming rights stream.
The rest of the interviews was filled with platitudes and coach speak.
Basically he was hired to do the job Hunter refuses to do. Coaching ability, schemes, recruiting strategies, etc were never discussed and have yet to be addressed.

No, the unlimited transfer portal without having to sit out has been the #1 factor. The NIL money would-be as big a deal of every player wasn't essential free agent EVERY year.

2 years in a row we go into a season knowing it’s going to suck. Actually more like 3. In all honesty Hunter and Sam should’ve both been sent packing after the 4-8 season when it was obviously on a downward trajectory.
Sam should’ve retired for “health issues” after his bowl win over Kansas. His job was to bring us back and he accomplished that. Shoulda rode out on top

You can recruit HS guys, develop guys, play the guys you develop compliment these guys with guys from the portal. The Utah model.
You can abandon recruiting, flip the roster every year through the portal show very little development of players on the field. The Pittman/Arkansas model.
Utah has a smaller budget than Arkansas. Arkansas has a larger budget than only Kentucky and Ms State in the SEC.
Kentucky and Ms State have followed a model similar to Utah and are better than Arkansas this year.
Since Bert to current Arkansas has been trying to "out Bama Bama". For the Bert era it was style of play. Bama style of play changed and so did Arkansas in theory on paper with Chaggy. Then a combination with both with Pittman when it failed for the third time the NIL boogie man was to blame.
Arkansas needs to accomplish out Utahing Utah, when they prove they can do that, they can start worrying about Bama/UGA/LSU/Etc.

There's also the instances where when we have hit on recruits, they get poached within the conference. Pooh Paul is the first that comes to mind. The good recruits get fed up with losing and go win somewhere else. Retention has been a huge issue.

He brought Arkansas back to a Chad Morris 2-10 season.

The guys who are easily retained are from instate, these guys were mostly ignored by Pittman and staff.
Dabo refused to use the portal period. He lost players and refused to use the portal to replace them. He also spread NIL evenly amongst the roster. He is an extreme example to the opposite end of NIL portal building.
Utah recruits similar rated players out of HS, they full holes/immediate needs from the portal. They use their limited NIL funds wisely, up the money to the guy who you want to keep from going elsewhere. Spread it around wisely keeping as many happy and satisfied as possible.
Arkansas has spent NIL like drunken sailers on shore leave after a 6 month deployment. All impulse for immediate satisfaction with zero over all plan, strategy, or concern about tomorrow.

Oh, I'm not totally disagreeing with you. Chasing money is definitely a problem. I just think the chasing money becomes somewhat less of an issue without the unlimited transfer portal. Players would then have to consider whether it's worth it to sit out a year without getting paid anything.

At this point it has to start with hiring an AD with some common sense.
HY thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and he out thinks the obvious.
The common sense hire was right there in front of us.
I know I wasn't on the BP bandwagon but no chance we only poop out 31 to UNA and 10 to Utah if he's at the helm.
Maybe if Silverfield can get a competent OC and more NIL he can get it fixed but this has been pitiful so far.

Truth. You start with getting rid of Yurachek and hiring someone who is capable of bringing money into the program (Scanlon, imo). Yurachek should have already been fired. Yurachek needs to go like today. We need the next AD in here ASAP trying to figure out who the next coach will be. The nature of college football has changed. Coaches are fired mid season routinely now.
Cut bait on all of this bullshite and do it as quickly as possible so you can be first in the market for your next coach.
