That alone should have eliminated him from the hiring conversation.

HIre Art Briles as OC and assistant head coach now. Let him run shite until the buy out is more palatable.

Norvell seems like the obvious choice for next OC if he doesn’t get a smaller HC job after FSU with the connections to RS.
Crazy thing is Memphis fans actually liked Cramsey. Just seems like a weird fit with our roster currently.

I get that you need monsters to compete in the SEC but it seems like sometimes we chase projects like Ian Geffrard and Devon Manuel for no other reason than because they’re huge. The Utah DT with the vicious spin move that made our OL look stupid was only like 280 lbs. We wouldn’t have gone after Dampier due to his size either but schools like Utah prioritize good football players over prototypical build.

We don't have Zone scheme running backs. That's why they are trying to force Sutton Smith down our throats. Russell and Settles are both gap-scheme backs. Parker is kind of a hybrid from what I can tell in his limited time so far.

And it's also not lost on me that KJ has regressed. If he was functioning well in BP's complex offense, why can't he run a simple RPO style?
My guess from what I can see is that rather than just read it and throw it, they try to kill the run or check the RPO instead of just building in a dual call and rolling with it.
It can be simple.... example we go zone read right with a hot.... KJ keeps, pulls the corner and dumps it off to the WR in the flat for a big gain.
Simple, would have been there all night. I don't think we ever went back to it.
RPO offense is about repetition and making defenders be wrong. We aren't sticking with anything long enough to get consistent reads.

Funny thing is you cannot convince me we would have seen a worse crap show in game 2 under BLJ than this.

I used to be that way as well but having sustained success at Illinois is no easy task. Maybe being connected to Bert would hurt him but hell, I figure he'd kill for the job.

At this point we have 2 options assuming RS doesn't get it done.
1. Throw a crap ton of money at a "name" and hope we can lure them.
2. Give the job to someone like Lunney or Lashlee(might take more $$$) and let someone who would consider this a destination job take a shot at it. I think our job is unique in that you almost need a homegrown guy to have success.
