Isn't the new SEC TV contract $$ coming next year? And isn't going to be like $30M more influx into the program?

yes, but again... that money can not be used for coaching salaries or buyouts...

We'll be lucky to hold them to double digits if we play like we did against auburn.

Its well over 20 mil for buyouts once you account for the whole staff. Dan alone was 2 mil. Hunts and Tysons are about the only big wigs who care about Arkansas sports anymore. The Walmart money ended when Bud died. Waltons only care about Art and Trannies now.
I like HY but if he really doesn’t have the pull to get a glorified interim head coach bought out then we need to adjust the to-do list and put “get real AD” at the very top. I doubt that’s the case.

I like Sam but end of the day it’s a business.

A lifelong offensive lineman coach got the opportunity to be a head coach at the end of his career.

Said offensive line coach now has the worst offensive line in the conference, and maybe a few other conferences as well.

Hes a failure by almost every measure.

Our athletic department deals with these issues on about the same level as our football team plays. Stupid, unprepared, afraid, indecisive. Like you said fail in pretty much every metric.

I wouldn't go that far. If anything I'd say he suffered from too much success too quickly and it shifted expectations beyond what they should have been for a coach of his caliber.

9 wins in year 2 from where we were when he got here was a minor miracle.

I give most of the credit to the upperclassmen and their leadership on that team, plus there were Arkansas kids on that team who were sick and tired of losing and and they played their guts out and played over their heads at times. Plus we got breaks we don’t normally get.

That’s difficult, if not impossible, to replicate yearly.

The expectations after that season were set higher than they should have been. It was a fun season though.

Absolutely. That's why I said he wasn't worth the expectations that team earned. He reaped the rewards of factors he had nothing to do with then turned it into a payday.

All downhill after that.

It seems that’s what’s happening at mizzou this year, the players have taken over the leadership role and are making the difference, it’s still the same coaching.

Heck, 10rc did it last year. Most teams are up and down.

But I will give Kiffin credit, he’s showing to be much better than I thought he’d be capable of.

Same. I'm not convinced he'll ever be able to get over that last hump but he's definitely better than anything we've had lately. I'm jealous.

Of course I'd never let the Ole Miss faithful know that.

I see this, but somebody got those upperclassmen to stay, others to buy in, and coached those boys. It was a sales job to begin with just to keep the better players with a never before Coordinator/HC.

THis isn't just responding to you. I am ready for a change, but I will give the dude credit for what he did... and grief for what he is doing!

Miss State 247 site reporter saying he's hearing rumblings of Odom behind the scenes..saying it either him, Pittman or Gus.

Don't know why, but I get a weird feeling Odom will be the guy and Sam will 'retire' (yet still get paid much of his buyout as a program ambassador or something).

It makes too much sense from Hunter's perspective. Former P5 HC who clearly was the behind the scenes HC under Sam and now he has a good year at UNLV.

Transition would also be pretty seamless and he obviously would not mind Sam still being around the program. It would also lighten the load on Hunter bringing an entirely new outsider like a Chadwell type who may or may not succeed at the P5/SEC level.

Personally, I'd make Curt Cignetti make tell me no 3x or more before if hire Odom, but I think Hunter is going to value program familiarity a lot.

No way Hunter does that. Odom has already failed in the sec as a hc

But did he? in one way yes... Mizzou 4, 7, 8, 5 wins...

UNLV... 8-2 Currently...

His defense at Arkansas was crap. So, no he isn't a Petrino, but he may be a Nutt with his experience.

Man, I'm not for Odom... But we are absolute dog poo right now. Just looking for something, almost anything better at the moment. I have become bipolar about this, which sucks.

I thought Sam was gonna stay for sure after Florida, I thought he would be fired after the Aub game, then sure at the end of the season.. .Now, I am not sure he won't be here regardless.

I usually here definitive stuff from folks when we are gonna make a change. Massive rumors fly, everything goes crazy and it is even a little fun just hoping for betterment. But this feels like something totally different. Like we are stuck and either Sam makes magic happen... or we are screwed even worse.

Either HY is a genius and has this thing sewed up. Or What? Crazy times indeed!

Hunter better understand whoever coaches next seasons football team will define his career at Arkansas. Whether that be Pittman or someone else. If it’s Pittman, and he’s terrible again the entire stadium will look like a graveyard throughout the year, and Hunter will be sent packing along with Pittman at seasons end, similar to Jeff and bret. If it’s someone else, and they fail miserably after a few years Hunter will also be let go at that point as well. Whichever way he goes he better choose carefully if he cares about his job at the UofA

Yeah I mean I don't think we have to fire Hunter over it. Now he may only get a swing or two more at it.....but he's been an overall boon for most programs

I don’t see them firing Pittman (if they do) just to hire Odom.

Odom would be a very underwhelming hire, even considering his turnaround at UNLV
