Usually I’m pretty cynical. But wasn’t there this guy playing QB for tech who has several Super Bowl rings(and we were always weak on pass and qbs who could run)? I’m blanking on his name… Think he throws the ball to Travis Kelce quite a bit these days.
yeah but overall that team still wasn’t very good and lost a bunch of games, but that’s my point. There was still enough talent in the big 12 to where bert would’ve had a similar record. You think bert or chad Morris is gonna have a winning record vs Brock purdy at Iowa state? Or that we would consistently beat Baylor ?tcu was pretty good too for the most part. Okie state would beat our arse as well. It’s not because of talent or the conference we play in. The reason Arkansas football has sunk to an all time low in the past 10 years is because we’ve made shite hire after shite hire at the top. And it’s mainly because we always try to hire an “Arkansas guy” or someone who loves the helmet, at least that’s the excuse used, instead of stepping up and paying what it takes to get a real winner.

That team had plenty of talent based on the the number of former players that are currently in the NFL right now.

Lost to Toledo because Bert was complaining about playing in Little Rock.

Lost to Tech because Bert pissed off Kingsbury and Allen played scared.

Fourth quarter collapse against A&M.

Had the lead against Bama until another fourth quarter collapse.

Had the State game won but Bert took the ball from Allen and gave it to Cole Hedlund. Kick was blocked, game over.

Hey, you’re definitely preaching to the choir. I just probably would’ve used Rutgers as an example in that case. But yes, we as a team were more solid than we played. Let’s not even talk about that 13-14 Bama game…

Arkansas football is not 'dead'. We just have an incredibly uphill battle every season.
And it's getting steeper with FTexas and OU joining.
I'll never expect an undefeated season, but I do expect bowl eligibility almost every season. If we catch lightning in a bottle now and then that would be a bonus.
I just don't see us challenging for the championship very often.
Resources are too limited in comparison to several in the conference.

Agree. But the culture right now is hard not to laugh at. I feel like everythinf since the wreck has led us(in many different ways) to stop embracing and enjoying who we are and it’s permeated through program culture. Like you said, I want to see us make bowls and compete and every once in a while reel off a good-great season or two but I don’t expect a title. Just tired of watching us be a laughing stock on all levels and having too many resources and not enough reasons for it to be like that. Just my hot take right now, lol.

Chad Morris
Bret B
Smile
Bobby P

They neither love the helmet, or are Arkansas Guys... Dude...

We hired where our program currently is. Only one had the capability to rising to the occasion in more than one way, evidently. And his recruiting was beginning to sour immensely prior to the ride of a lifetime!

I don't know about that.

Petrino did leave Bert some talent before he left that he squandered.

Those of us old enough to remember watching Arkansas be relevant in the national landscape of football, may never see it again unfortunately. This. Is. The. Realization. Now.

No denying we are currently a shite show, but the bar to relevance is getting significantly lowered with the playoff expansion. There’s no reason we can’t occasionally be a top 12 team. There will be teams that recruit worse than us in the playoffs every year beginning next year.

It won’t happen with current coach and probably not with the current AD.

I think John L squandered it more. He had the talent and pretty much the same staff , what could go wrong?

Bert and Smile both have the same coaching Intelligence.

Say stupid shite, goofy, clueless, lazy, mental retardation, wasting talent, poor decision making, fraud, fourth quarter collapse, liar, stealing, winless, hopeless, losing streak, losing the lead, slow, out of shape, injuries, losing, trash talking on Twitter, fat, broke arse, 0-8 SEC, laughing stock, check collector, uncommon, embarrassing, giving up, giving in, worthless, dickless, drunk and a brain full of monkey shite.

I was talking post bobby P, and I don’t count john L because he was an interim and the truth is we got stuck with shitty coach chad and shitty coach Sam because dumbasses with pull wanted to go after gus because they thought he was an Arkansas guy who loved the helmet which he wasn’t.

We didn’t think this way in 2021 after Sam pulled the program out of the gutter.

But let’s get rid of him and bring in the next whipping boy, fire his arse and get the next whipping boy,…rinse, repeat.

Then we can bitch about how much we are paying for fired coaches….rinse, repeat.

Why the hell not. The next guy will be the greatest guy, rinse, repeat…

I did, but I’m an old school hater.

I thought he hit his ceiling at that point, and I didn’t want him given a raise when he got it.

Or let's just keep Titboss for another five years and continue in our losing ways because he didn't know what to do.

honestly yes. You keep firing them until one works. Unless you believe a 3-9/4-8 team is all we are now and we should just like it and hope for a bowl game. In which case arkansas football truly is dead

What does “working” mean here though? I don’t think we should expect 2010-2011 level results but Nutt was notorious for yo-yo back and forth seasons with 9 wins followed by 4-5 wins. In today’s climate he definitely would have been fired after 2005 and we wouldn’t have won 10 games the next year. I’m as down on Sam as anyone after this year but I feel like fans everywhere now want to fire coaches after one losing season so it’s tough to gauge what the expectations are. We even have a small segment of our fans thinking Muss is a paper tiger for having his worst team this year.

Yeah I really don’t see this at all. We’ve hired who we’ve hired because the list of people signing up to coach here is quite small. Our dumpster fire of a program isn’t attracting anybody worth a damn.
