going back to page one, you can run zone against an odd front. the backers/hybrids setting the edge from depth make it tougher to read but it can be done.

Rewatching this OM game is killing me. There's a 3rd and 10 Corral scrambles for that killed us. Plenty of plays killed us.

Our inability to get off the field on 3rd and 4th down is what killed us. We didn't play terrible most plays but we failed to ever get them off the field.

And we need to change that for the next step.
Good teams get off the field.

for every program, anytime an opponent goes beyond scoring 29 points, fans begin to think they know more than the hired defensive coordinator

This Hogville inspired sky screamer thread - and that's exactly what it is - is predicated on denying what an actual defensive front consists of, and on cue, even our local radio talk shows cashed in on the fricking idiocy of it all

I'm 100% positive most people in this thread want us to run the same defense that Iowa runs against Minnesota and vice versa

Not saying Odom needs to go, I am saying we need to recruit better and get better tacklers.

Which I think we are.

Wait someone explain to me - do we use a 3 man front? Or a 5, 6, or 7 man front? Also how is that front defined?

I’ll hang up and listen

I mean our current guys could have won that game yesterday.....we just needed to send more pressure on 3rd down and we would have been fine

I think the bottom line is we got stuck between a rock and a hard place saturday going up against the heisman favorite who can run it at will or throw it anywhere on the field. Odom was damned if he did damned if he didn’t it seemed like. If he brought pressure he threw it and got it out quick, if we dropped 8 they ran it or corral threw a dime 50 yards down field, and then on occasion when we got them to 3rd down and did everything right he would just be a better athlete than our guys and scramble for a 1st down, thus repeating the process.

Listen pittmans presser from yesterday where he discusses THE FRONT we run and whether or not we can run a 4 MAN FRONT or if we will stick to the 3 MAN FRONT. And this is the last I’ll say on it. But I’m sure you’ll explain to me how I’m a Buffoon and that’s really not what sam meant

the 8:55 to 10 minutes mark?

"the four man front" came directly from the media guy, and of course Sam referred to this question as being "about the D Line" and "the four man line" if need be instead of 3 def linemen

8:55 mark

so again, for the 200th time, fronts are D Line and Linebackers in totality

if you're really a high school coach, you might want to remember that the defensive front 7 or 8 of your staff look at film with the d line and linebackers together, since what they do is in tandem with each other

I get it you call the front what I call the box. Everybody who is playing run first. It’s cool. But when someone says a 4 man front or 3 man front they aren’t talking about the front 7 they are specifically talking about the line, and to say otherwise is being intentionally obtuse. And regardless of the system is still gap sound or not it is a valid question if you are getting gashed on the ground if we should mix up the looks and Pittman even said as much himself. And before you repeat yourself no, nobody wants to go back to a Chavis defense. Also linebackers are normally considered in both. Front 7/back 7 both include linebackers.

How do you screen shot stuff on here? Because I want to screen shot the crap out of some alignments THIS YEAR to demonstrate the general sky screamers that are our fan base every year, win or lose. We are worse than Alabama fans. Clay Travis was right.

Reverend, here's the deal, after five games, AFTER the Georgia loss, our defense was ranked 9th in the nation. Not 9th in the SEC like with Robb Smith or John Chavis, but 9th in America. And then we play Ole Miss who possibly has a top five offense in the country. Possibly the best offensive player.

It was a shootout, happens to everybody, happens to Alabama, and then in mid October we've got dipshit media guys asking Sam about "muh Sam, uh, you got 3 guys on the line" stuff. It's embarrassing - media guys.

And the kicker is they can't even get terminology right. We've even apparently got high school coaches who don't know basic terminology.

My take in THIS thread is what I've simply stated - people have run over the hogville and got this "topic" because you can look over there and see it. People on here rightly call it tardville for a reason, but then they run over there to get topics and "terminology" from stated tards

And I guess I got some Hillary Clinton supporters upset over the use of the term "sky screamers"

they mad!
