FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Health officials have said they are investigating a currently unidentified outbreak after 51 people reported falling ill after a visit to a Fayetteville restaurant.
Arkansas Department of Health spokeswoman Meg Mirivel said in a release Monday symptoms included diarrhea, vomiting and fever, but there have been no hospitalizations among those who ate at JJ's Beer Garden and Brewery.
Officials said the illness has generally begun 24 to 36 hours after visiting the restaurant. The department is collecting samples and awaiting laboratory results to determine the pathogen.
State epidemiologist Dirk Haselow noted that many people traveled to Fayetteville Sept. 15 for the North Texas-Razorbacks football game. The department is asking anyone who visited the restaurant since Sept. 13 and experienced symptoms to report the illness.
JJ's manager Jordan Jones says they are working with the health department to determine what's happening, but no employees have been sickened.

Is this place the same as jjs grill and chill?

Same owners but a different concept. It’s where they brew beer for all the JJs. It’s a pretty awesome place, but this will hurt a bit.

Are we not sure that it was the football that made them sick?

No this is what is other wise known as JBGBs (JJs Beer Garden & Brewing Co.) They actually brew all the beer for the other JJ's and that resteraunt on site. They have a different menu than the other JJ's and has a massive outdoor area (playground, volleyball court, etc.) and even serves as a free concert venue for some decently big name country music artists. It's a fantastic place to hang out and their happy hour deals are great (no happy minutes tho). Sad to see this tho someone in the kitchen obviously screwed up.

I thought it interesting/strange that they could link something like norovirus to one location. I had three guys call in sick with the same symptoms and none of them had been anywhere near that place or known anyone that has.
The local articles kind of read like slam pieces and it would appear that this restaurant has been offered up as a sacrifice to the people for an explanation of what boils down to be the result of an early flu season.
The Fayetteville folks are always bitchin about how no local restaurants are around anymore and all they can get/have is chicken fingers. This is why. You deserve chicken fingers.
What’s really weird is that everyone was so into this venue in the planning stages, and then when it came fruition, people started turning on it with the noise complaints and bad reviews.
Bring it on up to Benton county with everything else that moved from Washington county. We could use a good music venue.

That's all a little harsh. People weren't on a witch hunt for JBGB, and they're going to do fine. A norovirus isn't their fault, and I don't think that anyone is saying it is. And yeah, there was a pretty widespread norovirus all over the region. I work in Ft. Smith, and we had 7 people go home in a single day earlier in the week with similar symptoms.
As for the music issue; they had their addendum granted to have additional concerts, despite the fact that they weren't living up to their end by staying within the limits of the original parameters outlined around music. There also wasn't some huge complaint about the music. It was basically NIMBY folks who live nearby and were annoyed by the additional noise. It wasn't like the entire city was trying to kick JBGB out. Their concerts have been a huge success for the community and are well attended and much appreciated by the majority from what I've seen.
As for Benton County: it's got a ways to go, but damn if they aren't building that Field of Dreams up there. The Thaden Field / Louise area is incredible and will only get better. Coler MTB Preserve is the shiz and will be a short pedal from Thaden Field when all is complete.
I was at 8th Street Market last night, and it was absolutely jam packed with almost no parking available there. It's all good news for us in the region, though. There's plenty of pieces of the pie to go around and it enriches all of our quality of living if people will stop being so damned provincial and adopt a regional mindframe. .
