that's some drunk rage posting at 11 AM.
It's someone that's slowly realizing that people don't really want to be good, they just want to be relevant while being lousy at the sport. We talk about running fast, but rarely do anything to help with it.
So many side quests...

You cats that just come with a predetermined pace, what are you using? How do you know what paces you are supposed to run? How do you know when you are supposed to run faster when you're in good enough shape to run that specific pace? I ask because the heartbeat guys seem to have all this figured out. What are you using to determine your pace?
Secondary question. When running tempo, am I supposed to be only counting the tempo miles, or do I just say the whole run is at tempo to impress my friends?
Third question, how much faster have you all gotten when transitioning to zero drop? Is it like running way faster? Why zero drop? Super fast times?
Heart rate dudes seem to know what's up so how much faster can I go with hear rate training? I mean, I'm in like 2:2X:XX marathon shape so if I run every run slower, how do I get faster?
Just a relative newb here; running less than 4 years seriously.

Mission accomplished. He's all they've been talking about for 20 miles. The amount of exposure this gives him will be big for "his brand". Good for him.

Yeah, CJ isn't looking too good now. I'm pretty sure running a smart race wasn't the strategy. Home town guy on his bithday? He's donkin. Out there straight donkin it.

Good on you guys! If it were me, I wouldn't have ran it. I only like being miserable on my terms  Seriously, y'all are beasts.

Vast majority (men) were running the next percent 2s. I think only the female winner was wearing the alphas and the rest of the women’s podium were in ASICS.

Watching the race on TV. Even with the heat, current pace is 2hrs.
Hell, you might not even know you were watching a running race with all the wheelchair coverage and commercials. Commercial time has to be about 2 to 1. Might as well be trying to watch a football game on CBS.

Clip on strobe for years here. Set it to flash and forget it. I wouldn't recommend a headlamp unless your on trails where you have obstacles, or somewhere out in the boonies (or really poor eyesight).
Head lamps are actually blinding to everyone else but the wearer. Cars, other runners, bikes... ain't none of us can see shite when you got that thing pointed at our eyes.
15 total this morning 9 of them at "marathon tempo". In refinement. Interval workout Saturday.

Garmin watch. Forerunner 245.
Like what CLS said, if you are using your watch to measure v02, it's not likely an accurate reading.
Personally, my own anecdotal evidence says garmin's formula isn't even close.

It's one of the only pleasures of running in the south.

Suffer fest this morning. Cut my tempo to 7 miles instead of 10; 14 miles total for the session. 20 degrees cooler where I'm moving. I'm done with this place

Depends on what you like. The speed is more flexable, softer, more forgiving, but heavier. The pro is firmer, has a more rocker shape, not flexible, and lighter.
I get quicker turnover and more energy return from the pro so that's my preference. Either can be worn for every speed IMO.

You guys seen the saucony pro plus? Only change is the upper, it's a little lighter and 50 more bones. I love Saucony, but it looks like they're taking a page out of the Nike playbook and trying to sneak a sunrise past a rooster here. Hard no.
Edit: I'll probably pick some up after they get discounted in a couple months.

Hey, no problem and make it your own if you decide to give it a shot. I was basically describing it exactly how I'd do it. We all know that there is no one size fits all when it comes to training

Too close to race time for higher mileage to make a difference so you'd be refining at this point.
1K (8-10) repeats at target pace with 60-90 seconds rest or 12x800 a little faster than target with 2 min rest for primary q sessions. The second workout of the week would be fast stuff to work on turnover. Think 14-18 30 second fartleks at mile pace with one minute rest, or 12-16 1min on, one off at 5K pace for the second Q session of the week. Doing both workouts (Longer intervals and the shorter fartleks) up until race week.
No taper for anything under a half marathon.
re: New conspiracy theory. Was grunge put together the same as boy bands in the 90's?
Posted by BurtReynoldsMustache on 9/26/21 at 10:54 am
Neil Young invented grunge, the Pixies perfected it, Nirvana commercialized it.

I mean, it wouldn't be competitive so it'd be kinda meaningless right? Plus it's in Lexington, Ky. Not exactly a vacation destination. Fine town, but...
Anyhow, ran a good 21 this morning. Felt great. Apparently I was dehydrated though because I came home and pissed maple syrup right after.
