Ford isn't the missing piece to this roster.

The main issue is Muss and staff put small roster together for some reason.

He's lost 6-8 inches of length on the perimeter which obviously is missed when it comes to the defensive end.

Outside of the 5 position, this is the smallest roster he's had here.

Adding another 6' guard in Ford isn't going to fix that.

Haven’t read this in a few days, but has it been mentioned, that Muss did a corporate event and was asked what the problem was?

He said the main problem is no one staying after practices and getting shots, they are just doing the bare minimum. Said in years past the “leaders” would stay after every practice and get shots, which lead to everyone staying.

I believe it goes much deeper than this, it is a lifestyle, a character issue. Once you get paid and there are no repercussions, just drifting along it seems. Sad! But we see this in other areas of life, if this is the case...

I think it’s not having a core group to reinforce the standards. And I don’t think Muss will ever get a whole new team again.

Lack of talent doesn't help.

We've seen him work around that successfully in the past with an even smaller lineup, though.

The thing is that team also worked and played 100x harder than this one.

False.

Devo has been one of the smallest guards on the roster during his time here, he is now one of the tallest guards on the roster.

Yeah as much as I hate the lack of size on this team, 2021 (muss first elite 8 squad) was so thin now that I look back

Justin Smith - beast
Connor Vanover -
Ethan Henderson -
J Williams - showed flashes but hadn’t fully developed yet
Vance Jackson -

Basically just Smith, a bunch of nobodies, and a developing Williams

And everyone talks about the lack of lengthy wings, but we are way deeper this year than that team. It was really just Moody. Great player but there was hardly anything behind him

The one big advantage that team had, that this team doesn’t, is a PG

So did we when we played Purdue, Duke etc. Winning breeds those qualities and losing takes them away.

I get the point but heart only gets you so far if you don't have the right talent in place

We won a few early with smoke and mirrors. Athleticism sometimes can hide major flaws. Once teams had some tape it was obvious that if you could defend the dribble drive and keep a body on TB there wasn't enough pure shooting for this team to beat you straight up.

We need about 75% roster turnover this year and WAY more role players. Gotta have a lockdown defender, a shooter, and glass eaters. I'm not sure we have a consistent threat at any of those 3 areas.

I just don’t think lack of shooters is the problem. Battle and Davenport can be lethal. Mark and Ellis are capable as well.

We don’t have anyone to distribute to them. Mark has been our most consistent PG and he just kills the ball movement 90% of the time.

I really don’t understand what’s wrong with our defense. I understand why we can’t defend the post well. I don’t understand why our guards just can’t stay in front of anyone. Mark, Devo, Blocker… you’d think you could muster a decent defense rotating these guys, but nope

Word is there is an extension on the table for Muss. He hasn’t signed it yet because Hunter put a large buy out on him if he leaves.

What if he's fired? I'm assuming the large buyout still applies?

I just do not see how Louisville hires an established coach from a major P5 basketball program.

There is a reason they had to hope Kenny Payne would work out for them. The program has not won more than 13 games since 2019. Louisville is 38-72 since 2019.

Louisville is not the best place to live. It ranks as one of the most dangerous cities in the US. The crime rate is 29.08 per 1k residents.

I would be surprised if Muss left for Louisville. Though, I would not be surprised if he left after this 5th season.

Seems like in the past we had a bunch of guys auditioning for the league, we now have a bunch of guys who think they should already be there.

Combined with in state kids that really want to preform for their friends/family/state. With J Will and Moody
